I think these sound like a great idea but I don't know really know anything about them. I haven't heard much about them either so I'm wondering if I'm missing something, maybe they don't work well?

Does anyone have experience with them?

Which one do you use?

Any tips or info would be great, thanks!!

I've been using the Brita Fill and Go bottles since about 2001. They are discontinued now, but I have several and a large stock of filter cartridges for them, so I'll be able to continue using them for years.

I've also tried the Pure Water 2 Go brand filters; I got a pair of the interts for standard water or soda bottles and tried them on my last trip to WDW. They fit nicely in a Dasani bottle, which I put in my carry-on empty, then filled at a drinking fountain once I got through security.

Both types of filters work great. They make the metalic-tasting water at WDW and turn it into something similar to Deer Park or Crystal Geyser bottled water.

I've also used my Britas outside of WDW, where the water has a terrible sulfurous smell and taste to it. The Britas filter out all of that and make the water fresh and crisp.

If you're picky about the taste of your water, I can highly recommend the filtered bottles. They're no good for removing bacteria, but if you just want to make tap water taste better, they are hard to beat.

Keep in mind that you can refill these bottles even from the sinks in any bathroom, as well as at any drinking fountain, and you can get ice and water free from any TS or CS restaurants.

Thank you so much for the info, great to know that actually work! And that you can fill it up even at the bathroom sink is awesome, how easy is that!

I do wish they still made the Brita's, I have a big refrigerator Brita at home and I like it quite a bit. I'll check out the other one you mentioned though, thanks!

This is great!!! Sounds like it would work out better than having a case of water delivered!!!! Where do you get them EMS or a camping store?

filtering water bottles available at Target in the food storage section (Ziploc, Rubbermaid etc) They are a little large but hold 20 oz and come in a variety of colors. I think they cost about 10 dollars.

Thanks! I'm going to Target today anyway so I'll check that one out, has anyone tried it?

I was thinking a camping store as well, EMS or REI or Campmor. I may check out a few different places this weekend, I'll let you all know what I find out...

I also used the Brita Fill and Go on our last trip. Worked wonderfully! I HATE paying for bottled water (and the waste it creates) so it was just the thing. It made the water taste LOADS better and we just threw it in the bottom of the stroller during the day and filled it as needed.

They are discontinued now, but I'm sure there are other kinds out there.

I was just there in Feb, and originally looked around for a filtered water bottle to take with me and couldn't find anything suitable. I drink a TON of water and remembered the WDW being funky to say the least. I swore I wasn't going to buy bottled (the expense! the waste!) so I ended up just taking my aluminum SIGG water bottle, and buying a couple boxes of the flavor packets (some of them have a full day's vitamin C now!). It worked SO VERY well. I filled up in bathroom sinks AND fountains and never had an issue. I never thought the drink tasted funny at all --- even the kids were loving it!

Filtered bottles carried by camping stores are much more expensive; they are designed to make stream or spring water safe for consumption by removing parasites, bacteria, and other contaminants. You don't need a bottle like that for WDW, where you will be filling it with safe, drinkable water that you just need filtered a little better for taste.

Likewise, you should NEVER use a Brita or Pure Water 2 Go filter to make wild water safe, because it won't.

After an extended search for the Brita bottles, I finally found them online from a company in Australia. I bought 2 and paid about $20 for both and the shipping. Cartridge refills can be found on Ebay. The filters are good for about three months. However, I really believe that would all depend on how frequently you us them.
