Okay.. I am thinking of getting my husband tickets to see the Blue Men at Universal. We have a 12, 7 and 2 year old. I am thinking of leaving the 2 year old with a babysitter. I need you guys to share your experiences. I have no idea what to do.

Please share!

Thanks.

And have always been VERY pleased with them. They are recommended by Disney.

You book them in advance. I think the price ranges from $14 - $16 something an hour with a four hour minimum and a $10 travel fee.

They have a website.

You can request male or female in the age range of college student to grandmother.

They come wearing a purple shirt, have a bag full of goodies to entertain and will have you fill out paperwork. They do not do anything with water, no baths or swimming and cannot leave property. If they are there over a meal time you are to provide the meal for them.

It can be pricey, but added onto the cost of your trip, really isn't that much and allows you a very nice evening.

Hope that helps.

I agree with kids nite out. We used them in May and will not hesitate to use them on our next trip.

We requested a woman of middle age. We had the kids bathed, fed, and ready for bed when she arrived. When we got home they were sleeping like angels. My kids were 4 and 1 1/2.

Just curious what you are going to do with the 7 and 12 year old? If you do a kids club for the older two and KNO for the youngest, that will be very expensive. I would probably just do KNO for all of them.

Any other concerns, I'd be happy to help you.

Another KNO fan here. We have a 12 year old and a two year old, so I asked for a college age female. The girl was wonderful and my 12 year old had a lot of fun with her. :)

I want to take the 7 year old and 12 year old to see the Blue Men and leave the 2 year old with a babysitter. Honesty.. the cost of the babysitter is equal to the ticket price... I am just so worried about leaving her. But, if I bring her.. I will probably have to leave the show... I am soooo torn. Kid's Night Out seems to be a favorite?

:thumbsup2 We've used Kid's Nite Out. Our sitter was Andrea. She was great with our children (8, 5 and 2). When we got back, all three were asleep. We did grill DS8 the next morning and he said she was nice and even had him do a scavenger hunt. We are using their service again this September. We have used the on-site child care provided by Disney (ages 4 +) too. Our DS8 and DD5 enjoyed their time in the Sandcastle Club at the BC. Everytime we visit BC, they ask to go in there and play. They have all of WDW to enjoy and they want to play games and color. Sometimes, kids need downtime from the parks and their parents.;) When DS2 gets older, we plan to put them all in the Disney provided childcare together. It is cheaper than KNO. Until then, we will continue to use Kid's Nite Out. It is nice to have one adult evening with DH at WDW. We never went to WDW until we had kids. Last time, DH and I went to DHS and rode RNR and ToT for the first time together. Usually, we have to do the rider swap. So, we never get to ride together. After the park, we had a nice dinner at Spoodles. It was the best evening of the trip.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

I'm glad you posted ths. We are trying to figure out whether or nopt we want to do this. I really feel like df and I NEED a night alone there to make it feel like a vacation lol.

Does anyone know if they will take the kids to the food court if we are on the ddp?

:thumbsup2 Yes, they will take the kids wherever you allow them to. Also, if your resort has a movie night or activities, they will take them to those too. You just need to tell them that when they arrive and they will mark it on their sheet. One thing, make sure to get your room key back from them at the end of the evening. We forgot to get ours back. No problem, front desk de-activated the other card and gave us a new one free of charge.

We used Kids Night out a few years ago and I HIGHLY recommend them. My kids were 3 & 4 at the time & my 3 year old son has autism. Clearly we spoke about this when we called and they had several people who specialize in special needs guests (of all ages) . She was FABULOUS. Very kind, sweet, brought lots of activites for both of my children, and kept a detailed journal for us to review when we returned. Both my children loved her. I would do it again in a second. It was definately expensive but clearly child care is NOT something you want to 'budget' about if you are going to use it. And it gave DH and I a few much need hours of quiet time for a nice dinner @ Epcot together mid-vacation. It was worth every penny.

We loved KNO so much last summer that we used them 3 times our last trip! Our kids have special needs as well, and were turning 5 and 7 then. We had the same sitter all three times, and she was unbelieveably awesome! We tried to hire her o come home with us, but she seemed to like Orlando-sigh. Anyway, I would highly recommend them.:thumbsup2

My son isn't special needs in the same way your son is, but he is high maintnance... hes got some social behavior issues that he sees early intervention for. I was scared they might tell me no to the sitting because of this, but your story gives me some hope! If you don't mind me asking, how expensive is it?

We used Kid's Night out several times and had a very good experience, our kids loved all their sitters.
The cost is $14 per hour for the first child (add 2.50 for each extra child in the same family) there is a minimum of 4 hours and a $10 transportation fee.
They will not bath or take your children in the pool. If they are there for 8 hours or more, you have to pay for a meal for them.

I meant out of the room. With your permission, the provider will accompany your child/children to the activities at your resort (ex: campfire @ FW, Storyteller @ AK, movies on the beach). However, it must be at your resort. They aren't allowed to transport the kids in their personal vehicle.

Below are the current prices on the KNO website:

In-Room Childcare Rates*

1 child $16.00 per hour
2 children $18.50 per hour
3 children $21.00 per hour
4 children $23.50 per hour
5 or more children, please call 1-800-696-8105

*All rates are hourly based. Four (4) hour minimum charge. Caregiver transportation fee is $10.00. Reservations that begin after 8:59pm require an additional $2.00 per hour premium. Cancellations require a twenty-four (24) hour advance notice. Advance reservations are required. Holidays and special events require an additional premium. Rates are subject to change. Payment is by credit card only. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover are accepted.

Someone mentioned they bathed your children. I didn't think that was allowed nor would I want a stranger bathing my children.
From the KNO website: Water activities are not permitted. (bathing, boating, swimming)

I emailed them my reservation and they called me within 30 minutes of submitting it. They called to confirm and ask about my preference in a provider. They are very helpful and will answer any questions you have.

Since, our caregiver did such a great job. We did tip her at the end of the evening.

All my information if from the Kid's Nite Out website: http://www.kidsniteout.com

Ok, just so I'm clear.. the additional $2.00 an hour is if the services start after 8:59 pm? or its 18.50(for 2 children) then after 8:59 it goes up to 20.50? sorry to be daft, but I just want to make sure I'm understanding it all :0

Thanks for all the awesome info!! you rock! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 Yes, if you START at 8:59 PM or after, you are charged an additional $2 per hour ($20.50 - 2 children). However, if you start before 8:59 PM, you only pay the listed price ($18.50 - 2 children). This never made sense to me. So, to avoid the extra $2 per hour fee, make sure you are scheduled for 8:45 pm or before. ;)

That's exactly what i plan on doing lol. 8:30 pm. I actually don't mind the prices as I am a nanny and think it is one of the most important jobs out there! never be cheap with your sitter! trust me :rotfl:

thanks again for the info!

I have a question does anyone know if i can have someone take care of my kids with my father-in-law in the next room? My husband and i would love to go to V&A but the two of them are too much for him to handle. He doesn't want to come to dinner with us he wants to stay in the room.

I used Kids nite out for my 11 year old DD this past March while staying at HRH. My DS and I were going to Wrestlemania and weren't going to be back until 1am so I couldn't use the kids clubs at the resort.

I asked for a college aged female since I knew my DD would be more comfortable with a younger person. They can take them anywhere within the resort except for swimming.

They went to Citywalk and then ate dinner. She brought age appropriate crafts and games to play in the room.

I would also highly recommend their services.
