Chase sent me an offer to Earn 2,500 bonus points when I upgrade to the Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card and make a purchase by 6/30/19. My annual fee would go from $69 to $99, but anniversary points would go from 3000 to 6000. My anniversary date is May 24.

Has anyone taken this offer and your thoughts on the offer?

Thanks

Upgrade to the Priority Card instead. It's a much better value. It's $150/year but comes with a $75 annual SW credit, 4 free upgraded boardings every year, and 20% discount on inflight purchases (alcohol, wifi, etc)

How long ago did you get the Plus card? If it's been longer than 24 months since earning the last bonus you could consider just cancelling the Plus and signing up for it, or the Premier or Priority, again. The sign up bonus is much better that way.

I used to hold the Premier, I thought for the extra $30 I got a better value out of the card. Just looking at anniversary points, with the Plus I'd be paying 2.3 cents per point whereas on the Premier it's 1.6 cents per point; which is closer to my usual redemption rates around 1.4 - 1.5 cpp now. (It was better when I first got the card, 6000 points equaled $100 so it was like prepaying for flexible flights.) The only other difference I recall is that the Premier doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. Personally I think the Premier and the Priority are better values than the Plus. The Plus is useful if you're looking for a cheap path to a companion pass but otherwise I'd go for one of the other cards, depending on your flying habits.

If you have no plans to sign up for a new card then 2,500 points is better than nothing to upgrade. If the Priority card sounds more interesting I'd call and see if they have an offer for that card instead. They put offers out when it was released but not sure if they're doing any now.
