Has anyone tried the new Trails End a la carte lunch menu? UPDATE: Found prices!

There's a place in Atlanta owned by Gladys Knight that is famous for chicken and waffles: http://gladysandron.net/ . I've never had them but have always wanted to go there and try them.

Come on over to the state line to GA and I'll make you some shrimp and grits. :thumbsup2 It's more of a SC thing I think. It's BIG in Charleston where I grew up.

I spend most of my life in GA :lmao: I'll pass on the shrimp, thank you. I have gotten sick one too many times to ever eat shrimp again . I wondered if maybe it was a coastal thing, Paula Deen is the first person I ever heard mention shrimp and grits.

Now, if you wanna fix me the grits, I'll be over anytime, cause I suck at making grits and since I am the only one in the house that eats them, I just don't bother. But I am this winter, cause the is nothing better than grits for dinner, or anytime of day for that matter, DH will just have to eat a frozen pizza :rotfl:

Shrimp and grits- yes. Yummy:love: Chicken and waffles- never had them but I've heard of them being served together. Sounds fine to me. Just think of the waffles as the bread- like a biscuit (which can also be a breakfast OR dinner item, right??) I am annoyed about this change only because I'm intrigued by the menu and I'm already having a tough time narrowing down my restaurant choices. Now I have to throw this one in the loop. :rotfl:

I live in Alabama and have never seen fried chicken served with waffles: sausage or bacon yes, but not fried chicken. But then again, I have never had shrimp with grits and tha tis supposed to be big in the South, I prefer my grits with butter.

I think maybe it might be more of Soul food thing than a Southern thing and I must say it sounds weird but it is so yummy!!!! It has recently gained a lot of popularity and become very trendy. You can find it it in a lot of trendy upscale restaurants. I am not a big fan of shrimp and grits either but I grew up eating Grillades and grits which is a Louisiana thing that there again sounds gross and weird but is delicious! You should try the chicken and waffles!!

Trail's End also has some super yummy chili! I'm not brave enough order the chili cheese burger by myself, but I bet it's going to be really delicious!

Hahaha. I feel your pain! It's always so tough thing to decide which places are going to make the cut on our upcoming Disney trip & I can never fit all of them. Just need to remember: if the thing that's stressing me the most is narrowing down our ADR's, then we've got it pretty good. ;)

I hear ya! DH can't stand them, but they're one of my fave breakfast foods- especially when it's cold!

It's become a joke when we go anywhere to eat that he is eyeing everybody else's plates to see what's going to be left for him. I think it hurt his feelings when my little boys turned into teen-age eating machines and started eating all of their food. :rolleyes1
Too funny! Poor hubby! My DH always finishes my plate & our dog is always anxiously waiting on stand-by & eyeing us up, just in case!

Am I the only one that thinks chicken and waffles together is weird?

Chicken and french fries, mashed potatoes even rice but waffles

Yup, I think it is a little unusual, but hey, you never know. I dont think I would order it.

Here is my report from last week that I posted on the Camping board
We ate there yesterday. Service was slow I think both the kitchen and waitstaff are trying to get into the groove. DH had the catfish and his plate was cleaned so I will assume it was good. I had the chicken but no waffles. Just couldn't do it. But I saw it delivered and the waffle was huge. 2 big pieces of chicken as well. My DS had the grilled chicken strips with macaroni and it was a hit. We all shared the sticky bun sundae which was yummy.

Thanx for the review. That sticky bun sundae sounds amazing.

Coastal areas makes sense. Paula Deen is from Savannah - the sister city to Charleston. I'm looking forward to being able to find REAL grits (meaning not instant!) in the grocery stores here. Try finding grits in a grocery store in Maryland. :rotfl:

Thanks for your review!!!! Did the chicken plate cost less without the waffle? Or, did they give you a different side item in place of the waffle? I think we're definitely going to be trying the sticky bun sundae as well!

Hi! So the Dinner buffet at Trails End is $36.00?????:scared1:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was only $23 for dinner, unless they've recently changed the price. I think the "$$" on the Disney website means that the price could be between $15.00-$35.99

I know what you mean! My mom ordered grits during a trip to CA & the lady asked her if she would like one grit or two. Mom said, "Uh, nevermind." I'm pretty sure the lady wasn't talking about real grits.

It's good together because of the sweet of the waffles and the salty of the chicken:goodvibes

No way will you catch me eating instant grits, that is probably like eating sand. Mom always bought quick cooking, but they still took forever. but oh so good. I know what is going on my grocery list this week, as well as stuff for SOS

I live in Atlanta. Glady's Chicken & Waffles are very good along with the famous lemonade. It's also sit across from the Fox Theatre. My DH think that it's weird to eat chicken & waffles together. I think it is weird to eat grits with fish, but people in GA eats this combination.
Question:
I would like to know how long will it take to get from Epcot to Fort Wilderness to have dinner at Trails End.
Thanks

After you catch the Ft. Wilderness bus at Epcot, it should only take about 20 mins on the bus. Then, another 5 mins from the front of Ft. Wilderness to the rear. You could also take a monorail to TCC & switch to a resort monorail. Then, take the ferry from the Contemporary to Ft. Wilderness. Between the two, the faster route really depends on how long you'd be waiting for a bus at Epcot.

I would allow at least 45 minutes for travel time if you are using Disney transportation from Epcot to Fort Wilderness. I would take the bus to Ft Wilderness and switch to the other bus that takes you back to Trail's End. If you are returning to Epcot after dinner then I would take the boat to the Contemporary, the resort monorail to TTC then switch monorails to Epcot.

Actually Quaker makes a set of flavored instant grits in individual pouches and the country ham flavor isn't too bad (for instant). Other than that, give me the REAL ones! :thumbsup2

Thank you, NOLA_Tink and ClarabelleCowFan.

You're welcome. And NOLA_Tink is correct in that the tricky part of knowing how long it will take for your travel time is how long you have to wait for the bus at Epcot.
