I've seen chatter on the boards about the change, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried it yet. I'm happy that they kept the fried chicken as a choice. I was also really hoping they would at least keep their yummy salad bar as on option, but I don't see that below. Disney's site has this:
Fill up at lunch at Trail's End Restaurant with selections from the new a la carte menu:

•Chili
•Fried chicken
•Pan-fried catfish
•Grilled pork chop
•Spicy grilled shrimp and andouille sausage
•Delicious desserts such as wilderness s'mores and a warm sticky bun sundae
•Vegeterian entr&eacu;te; available
•No sugar added dessert option available

ETA: I just found a few related posts on other non-restaurant boards with great info about this.

Can you link to - or at least tell me which folder - you found more info on the new Trails End menu? We discovered the buffet just a year ago and it became my husband's favorite - he's very disappointed in the change.

Thanks - it's always been fairly empty at lunch when we go too, but we always assumed part of that was since we would usually eat at the earliest lunch seating - sometimes there were still a few breakfast items out. I don't remember ever having catfish there so maybe we'll still try a lunch for that. I also didn't realize that supper would still be buffet.....we've always gone for lunch before, but that doesn't mean we couldn't switch to an evening meal instead.

I'm going to try to squeeze a Trail's End lunch into our Nov. trip & I'll let you know how it was. I've never had catfish there either, but the chicken (& waffles) might be my "must try" next trip. The warm sticky bun sundae has DH's name written all over it, lol. He's the kind of guy that only eats half of his meal just to make sure that there's room for dessert!

I'm going Oct 3rd with a LOT of people I'm meeting down there for the half marathon. I'll make sure to get a review and pictures of as much as possible. With over 30 of us going, I'm sure we'll have a wide variety of reviews :)

Am I the only one that thinks chicken and waffles together is weird?

Chicken and french fries, mashed potatoes even rice but waffles

Haha wasn't it the DIS podcast where one the guys had a rant about chicken and waffles being rediculous and weird and then all the southern listeners flipped out on him saying it's a normal meal? ;)

I've seen it a million times at restaurants....haven't tried it yet though!

No weirder than sausage and waffles. Is the honey glazed chicken at Yak & Yeti weird, too?

Though I do think fried chicken and rice is weird, so go figure ;)

Though personally I am not of the "drizzle the whole mess in syrup variety" as my DH is, but I admit a smidge of syrup on the crust is surprisingly tasty...the way honey mustard is, in a way.

There's a slightly more upper scale "diner" here that has chicken n' waffles, but they top the waffle with this big scoop of bourbon-brown sugar butter. Ohhhh my, it's quite:

After seeing that I am almost excited about going there again - but don't know what I would pick. I love waffles (never heard of eating them with chicken :confused3) so that would be apossiblilty, but then the catfish sounds good,....and the chili cheeseburger....mmmm

Maybe we could go - hubby could order the catfish and I would get the hushpuppies (he never eats them), the cole slaw could be available - he only likes certain ones. Then I could get the chicken and have the waffles and maybe a piece of chicken and he could have the rest of my chicken. Yes - we eat off each other's plates. It's become a joke when we go anywhere to eat that he is eyeing everybody else's plates to see what's going to be left for him. I think it hurt his feelings when my little boys turned into teen-age eating machines and started eating all of their food. :rolleyes1

I live in Alabama and have never seen fried chicken served with waffles: sausage or bacon yes, but not fried chicken. But then again, I have never had shrimp with grits and tha tis supposed to be big in the South, I prefer my grits with butter.

Chicken and waffles is also common in German/Amish areas of the courntry such as Lancaster Co, PA. But the chicken is usually baked chicken meat, not fried chicken.

Is this new lunch program on the DP? TS or QS? Doesn't seem worth a TS credit.

One of my favorite brunch combinations is shrimp w/ cheese grits (& tasso). Together, they're really yummy, but I don't want to try them at T's End b/c I think my expecations might not be fair. Plus, I think it would be hard for me to go there & not get the fried chicken. I'll try one chicken/waflle combo bite, but I'll probably eat them separately.

I'm almost sure that they will still be on the DDP, but I'm not 100%. To me, the price equivelance would be the same as having lunch at 50's PTC (or Sci-Fi) & we've eaten there on the DDP.

I used to love chicken and waffles, so that menu sounds yummy to me.

I think the menu looks pretty tasty. I'm looking forward to hearing first hand reports. I don't think we'll get there this trip.

I just booked it for one day of my trip, lots of availability!

There's a place in Atlanta owned by Gladys Knight that is famous for chicken and waffles: http://gladysandron.net/ . I've never had them but have always wanted to go there and try them.

Come on over to the state line to GA and I'll make you some shrimp and grits. :thumbsup2 It's more of a SC thing I think. It's BIG in Charleston where I grew up.
