I heard they have a Build A Dino at the the DTD T-Rex Restaruant. I am thinking it is like the Build A Bears you see everywhere Has anyone done this particular one with their littyle ones yet? If so, can you tell me what Dinos they have? Are the prices similar to the Build A Bear?

Also has anyone eaten at the restaruant yet? What kind of food does it offer? What do you think of the place oveall?

Thanks a bunch!

We didn't, but sat next to a little boy on the bus that did it the day before. He was still talking about it. It sounded like he had a wonderful time.

We went on our trip a few weeks ago. My older dd stuffed a Pink Dino and dressed her up with a blong wig, shirt, skirt, shoes and purse. It was all very similar to build a bear. with the certificate and the box house. Prices are the same as well. The Dino she created with the outfit came to $48. They had a variety of different dinos too. maybe 10-15 of them I think.

We went to the restaurant for Lunch. I thought the menu was large but not as many options as Rainforest. I had a nice Chicken salad sandwich, DH had some taco thing. Kids had dino nuggets and mac & cheese. They have a website to look at the menu www.trexcafe.com

Its really an incredible place. I recommend it. It is very loud though...all the time..not just when they have a meteor shower

I just clicked on the link to check it out and the build a trex bit is by Build a Bear, actually!! how cute! my sons would love this, never heard of it!! thanks!!:goodvibes

Here, you can shop ahead of time!! :)
We have a T-Rex cafe near us in Kansas City and we are the proud owners of I think 7 dinos between my 5 and 3 year old. The prices run a few $ more, but the accessories are about the same prices.

And for the T-Rex cafe

If you have been to a Rainforest Cafe, it is the same setup, just rewind a few million years :) The food is good, but you are paying for the atmosphere. If you have a dinosaur loving child it is worth the money. If they have any hesitation towards the animatronic creatures (especially the scary ones!!) at Disney, beware when you walk in. The cafe in KC has a gigantic moving T-Rex right inside the door and when the "meteor shower" occurs every 15-20 minutes the dinosaurs move and roar more until it is over.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Sounds like a place we should try with DGS at least for the expierence. We definitely will do the Build A Dino. We have bought him a Build A Bear and a Build a Dog already so we have to add the dino now, don't we? :yay:

FOrgive my ignorance please, is this in the old Rainforest Cafe location, or is it in addition to Rainforest Cafe at DTD? And does anyone know if you can use Rainforest gift cards there?

Don't know about the vouchers, but it's right next to the lego shop, and the Rainforest Cafe is still there.

This is in addition to rainforest cafe--it is owned by Landry's.

I've never done this with my boys, but I have it planned for our March trip. I have 3 little guys and I can see that the prices of the clothing/shoes/etc. can add up fast.

What's the best way around this? Can I buy some clearanced infant clothes (what size--preemie?) and show it to them in the room before we go build the dinos or should I just limit them to 'just a top' for their dinos when we are there?

I hate to sound 'cheap' but I can't afford $200 for stuffed animals!

It is pretty easy to get around spending lots of Money on them...

I work at Build-a-bear Workshop, and they offer free ribbons and bows so that you don't have to get clothes at all. If the little ones are fussy about having clothes, limit them to just a $5 or $6 shirt. That way they can still personalize it but won't cost a fortune!!

Tell them that once they have the animal, they can come back and get clothes later as a reward, or santa can bring them for Christmas...normally the employees will help and give out stickers or coloring books or something (I always do!!!)

I hope this helps!:fish:
