Has anyone used Hotwire to book in either the WDW zone or Universal? If you have were you satisfied with both the price and the quality of the hotel?

Yes, DH got us a suite at the DD Hilton for $82 per night. But I think that we were bumped up to a suite after the original reservation because we have mileage from American Airlines to use. After your reservation is made call the hotel directly to see if they have any reward programs to offer. We joined the Hilton Honor program and get some perks with that too.

We were more comfortable using Hotwire because it gave us a list of different prices with the level of hotel to choose from. We didn't know the name of the hotel until we comitted to the price.

Good luck!

56 days till I'm there!!

I think I saw a post somewhere that a 3 or 3.5 key WDW area hotel that came up was Hotel Royal Plaza. If it has the comments from users about being close to Downtown Disney its probably this hotel.

The thing about Hotwire is there is no bulletin board like with Priceline so we can see what hotels come up. Many claim that Hotwire rates hotels higher than Priceline so they cant be compared.

I have used them 3 or 4 times mainly for car rentals! I love the way they price them ...... all taxes and fees in the price they give.... I guess it is less confusing to me.:D

Hi..I went on the site to look for car rentals. The price is so much better than booking direct with the companies, which leads me to believe that there are more fees when you pick up the car. Is that true?

Thanks for any info.

Lisa

The final fee they give you on the billing page is all you pay. Unless you add on insurance etc. which I never do anyway.

I hadf never heard of Hotwire until I read this thread. Just for ha ha's I punched in our planned flight dates. Well they came back with a good price but they won't give you any details about the itinerary until after you've completed your puchase. Even better, they also won't give refunds or make changes. I don't know about anyone else but I'm certainly not comfortable forking over $800 plus dollars without knowing what I'm buying. No thanks!!!

Chuck, that is what Hotwire and Priceline are.

You can get a good deal but you must be willing to take the flights they give you (they are not red eyes unless you choose that option) AND yes they are not refundable but that is the case with conventional tickets anymore too.

Also, most often Priceline will beat the price that Hotwire quotes you. So whatever they quoted you, you can usually bid less on Priceline and get it.

I've tried hotwire, but I have found in all instances that Priceline has beaten it, but I've only tried 5-6 times for hotels and 4-5 times for rental cars, never done airlines on either since not willing to fly "anytime."
