We are going to Disneyland in early August with 2 young kids. We have been many times and usually like to stay at the Camelot Inn, which is nice because it is near the entrance. I was thinking this time of taking a chance and booking through Hotwire which is taking a chance b/c you don't know which hotel you get until you book it. I have booked with Hotwire in the past and have gotten really good hotels at at good price.

I've done hotwire once before but not for DL. We did priceline for DL one time and got the hyatt which was nice - especially when it was only $50!

But you should look at betterbidding.com. You can compare amenities on hotwire (or priceline) to the amenities of hotels people have gotten in the past and you can get a pretty good idea of which hotel you're getting. So when we did priceline we knew we were either getting the hyatt or the hilton(?) so it wasn't really a risk. When we did hotwire we were 99% sure we knew which hotel we were getting before we did it because of the info we got on betterbidding.com.

Good luck!

Hotwire, Expedia and one other big name travel site are all the same company. It's on the tip of my tongue but i can't think of it. Anyway I've known people who have worked at hotels and said that the rates they quote aren't always the best. Travelocity is the other. Anyway a lot of hotels won't deal with them.

If you liked the Camelot inn check the internet and then call them directly and see if they can match or beat it. Wouldn't you rather know you will get a hotel wher you can walk to the park?
