Has anyone taken their scooter on a WDW bus?

We usually stow my scooter in the back of our minivan when we visit. We take the autotrain down from the D.C. area.

I only ever used the bus with my scooter, once, and I felt the driver was making an exception. Has anyone else had an experience putting their scooter onto a Disney bus or been refused? I know their buses don't have as much room for chairs and scooters as the ones I use around D.C.

Just looking for input.

Thanks for sharing any experiences. My bottom line is to go the way we usually do and use the minivan.

Sorry about the heresy, but Chip N. Dale was taken for a user name and all I could come up with was Daffy Duck for a name on the spur of the moment! I certainly didn't think it would be taken! LOL

Scooters can be taken on all accessible Disney buses. It is the rule not the exception. Most buses have room for 2 scooters or wheelchairs.
Btw ChipnDale belongs to one of our wonder Disney bus drivers and perhaps he will stop by and speak on this.

Daffy Duck, I have been renting an ECV from a local Orlando company. The first several trips with the rented ECV we just used our own car. In May we had extra people with us, so we used the WDW busses.

WDW bus transportation was wonderful! The bus drivers all made me feel like I was special. They all stressed one way or another that I was to take my time getting on & off. I usually waited for the bus near where the back of the bus would be when it stopped. I also now have experience with both types of WDW busses - those where the stpes unfold & they lift you & the ECV up & the newer bus where the bus tilts to the ground.

Getting on the older bus I had to back into the space/lift. My suggestion would be to turn off the ECV for those few seconds & also turn it to turtle speed when moving - I speak from experience :). Once the ECV was on the bus I (or my husband)usually moved it manually into the space. The bus drivers will tie the ECV down so it won't shift when the bus is moving.

The first time we got on the bus with the ECV there were very few other guests. They must have been sitting in the seating area where the ECV goes & the bus driver told them they would have to move. Once I got settled, the child in the group was watching very attentively. I explained to her why I use the vehicle. Her dad thanked me because they were told/asked to move, but not told why. Now I realize there are signs overhead & I also realize the bus driver does not owe anyone an explanation, but I didn't mind & the family appreciated it.

Have fun & don't hesitate to ride a bus at WDW!

If your concern was because it was your personal scooter don't worry. Disney ECVs are not allowed out of the parks so everyone on a scooter is either on their own or an off-site rental. Most busdrivers are very accommodating as are the CMs at the monorail stations and all boatdocks.
Have a great trip.
