Has anyone stayed at the Nick hotel?

What kind of toiletries do they have?
How are the activities? Very crowded? Did you enjoy it?
How was the character breakfast?

They had "Nick" toiletries. I remember shampoo and soap, I'm not sure what else. Kids loved all the activities. They had activities all afternoon by the pool and they had nightime entertainment (free) based on Nick shows. The food at the character breakfast wasn't very good but the kids liked seeing Spongebob and Patrick the most. They really enjoyed the pool (liked the lagoon pool the most) and liked the special "slime" drinks at the poolside bar. We only stayed for two nights before we moved on to DIsney but the kids are asking to go back again!

Thank you SO much for replying :) I can't wait.

The Lagoon pool - is that the "smaller" one?

My kiddos are pretty small (8 and under) and not too comfortable in deep/splashy water. It looked like (but I couldn't tell for sure) there were two pools and one was like a waterpark and the other maybe smaller and more for toddlers/small kids? Is this an accurate assessment?

I emailed the hotel and asked them if any improvements have been made to the character interaction, requesting that they have character handlers escort the characters and ask families to remain seated during the breakfast - so that no one gets hurt feelings, everyone gets a turn, and so that the characters are safe. Who knows if it will make a difference, but after reading all the reviews I could find, it seemed that it needed to be said.

Thanks again for all you input.

Oh - what were the prices like for food and slime drinks and such? Pretty comparable to the park stuff?

We'll be there 5 days (4 nights) and I just can't, can't wait!!! :)

Hoping to be there over Thanksgiving break. Are the pools heated? Thanks.

Pools are nicely heated. Warmer than we expected this past Feb., although air was chilly. Did read from another poster that water on slides and sprays were not heated. I can't confirm that as I stayed in the hot tub most of the time enjoying some beverages :drinking1, DH didn't go on slides and DD and DS can't remember. Sorry about that.
I do remember that the drinks were similar to park prices.

Drink prices were similar to park and resort drinks. Both lagoon and oasis pools seemed about the same size to me. THere was a smaller area by both pools for smaller kids. My kids were 5, 6 and 7 at the time and they went to both pools but liked the slides at lagoon side better. Activities were at both pools. We were there in July so couldn't tell you if waterpark area is heated in winter - water was very warm in July.

My kids really loved this place. We didn't even go to the parks those two days, just went to DTD one night to eat at Rainforest Cafe (not up to a second night eating at the Nick). Have a wonderful time.

We stayed at the Nick the first week in June. Nice, cozy room. I esp liked that we got our "own" room. The service was great. Esp nice employees. Dinner at the Nick Cafe was quite pricey and not esp great food. (though the server did mention that it was going through alot of changes so it's probably better now) We did do the character breakfast and it was hard 'cause others kept interrupting the characters right before they got to our table. (one lil' girl actually escorted SpongeBob to her table when we had been waiting and waiting) If this happens to you, speak to a manager...I did and all worked out after that. She was great! She made sure to bring the characters to our table once she found out what had happened. My kids loved this hotel and we hope to stay there again sometime soon. It's a great place to stay right before or after Disney. :) Have fun!

So for the character meal they don't have handlers and the kids are allowed to run up to them? That is crazy. How on earth do they control it? Or do they? If that is the case I wouldn't even consider going.

we just got back from the nick suites.. we stayed for 3 nights after a week at POR... we loved it so much... you dont have to leave the hotel... the pools are great... the main difference in the pools is that the lagoon pool slides dont go into the actual pool... they let out into water at the bottom of the slide.... the oasis pool has 2 slides that let out right into the pool.... the lagoon area is much bigger than the oasis and they have more entertainment there as well... the character breakfast was great.. my only complaint would be not enough different characters... they only have spongebob, patrick, dora, and wanda and cosmo from fairly odd parents...we did see squidward in the lobby as well as blue but not at the breakfast..... i have to disagree about not having control of the characters... there was someone with each character making sure they went to every table and the made several announcments saying please stay at your table and they will come to you... spongebob was the only one who didnt go around to the tables if you wanted to see him or take a pic you needed to wait on line which was not a long wait at all.... my 4 year old hated disney but didnt want to leave this place... next year we are going to do universal potofino bay and then go to the nick hotel again... we spent hardly any money while we were there either because they had so much going on all day and night that was all included
just one more thing if you are planning on having friends come visit from another hotel that becomes a problem.... when you check in you are given orange braclets and you must wear it at all times... if you lose it it costs $25 to replace... so my point is that if friends come to visit they can not use any of the ammenities... we had friends come meet us for dinner and even that was a hassel...i understand there point because the pool is like a water park and if everyone brought someone it would be crazy crowded...plus the nighttime shows sell out fast... my only real complaint was the mosquitos...i dont know why but they were sooooo bad we all got eaten alive...at night we had to run into our room and they still got in....all in alll though a great place to stay...and you can guarentee a spongebob room now too for a price of course :)

Thanks, Sheri -
Are there exterior entrances to the rooms? (just wondering since you commented on the mosquitos).

I'm glad to hear the character handling has improved.

Also, can you elaborate any more on the events throughout the day and evening - everything is included? Did you do any of the kids spa treatments? Do you know how much the hair wraps and manicures are, by chance?

What was included exactly - and when you said the evening shows sold out quickly, what do you mean? Did you pay for them or get reservations?

Thanks for any input! :)

they do have outside entrances... they have poolside entertainment every few hours and the pools themselves are entertainment as i said the pool area is like a water park... they also have bingo and other games in the lobby... on friday night they had a dive in movie by the pool... you have to make a reservation for the shows at night but there is no charge,, there are different times and shows... the spa stuff is pretty pricey... i think it was like $18 for a manicure... i saw quite a few girls with braids im not sure of the price but i think it wasnt cheap either... just a hint too they pick 6 families 4 families of 4 and 2 families of 2 every afternoon by the pool for the night shows ... you have to audition but it didnt seem like that many people were even doing it... so if you are interested in that be by the pool around noon... they also pick kids friom in the pool to participate in the poolside show and they pick kids at night for the shows also... my 8 year old son got pick at night and was so excited.... the show at night was kind of like double dare that used to be on nick.....anything else you want to know just ask

ooh - I don't know if I'm going to like that outside entrance thing. Ick.

Oh well, it still sounds like a BLAST and I can't wait. It's a good thing the kids don't know because they'd be HYSTERICAL every day "when are we leaving - how many more days" :)

One last thing - do you remember what kind of toiletries they had? Someone else mentioned they're Nick-themed. Just wondering what was included and if there is enough for a few kids or if they just put in one of each thing?

Thanks!!!!

i know there was some apple shampoo that my husband hated but nothing really nick themed stands out... not like the micky shampoo and soap and there definatly wasnt a lot to share.... the outside entrances do stink... this was my complaint at POR also... we usually stay deluxe i like my doors on the inside... but to me this was more a deluxe style other than those darn outside doors

I am getting worried. I am staying for one night in february and not arriving until noon. Is there a chance we will not get into a show at night? Can I reserve seats ahead?

I am SO glad that they fixed that problem! I figured they would...once they got enough complaints! LOL We were there the first week in June and everything was still new so I'm sure that's why it was such a problem when we went. Again, glad to hear that was fixed!

And the Spongebob room...we got that at check-in when we asked...w/o the extra fee. Next time we'd like to do a different character room. :flower:

I'm glad they seem to have control, I'm looking forward to going in April.
My only dilemma is how many days at Nick and how many at Universal. The grand total will be 6 nights....

i would stay 3 at each... when you are at the nick hotel you dont have to do the parks... i would go to universal for 3 days and then go to the nick hotel for 3 days... this is what we are doing next year...have fun

With FOTL do I need 3 nights at Universal resort? I have three kids 7, 5 and 1.

We loved FOTL! Can't wait to go back to use it again! :) If you do decide to stay at a Universal resort...try HRH! The service there is WONDERFUL!

We stayed at Nick the night before our stay at HRH and it worked out great. Kids got to have fun at the Nick hotel on day one and DH and I got to rest before we started our vacation. (flying-in day takes alot out of us...LOL)
