I was just viewing their website and they will soon become the new "Hyatt Place" instead of Amerisuites. The rooms looked gorgeous!!! New furnishings, plasma TV, cafe and extended menus. We are planning our Universal/Disney vacation for Christmas 2007 and we stayed here in 2004 and it was nice then. The renovations are suppose to be completed by Spring 07. Some of the rooms are done, but not all. We are seriously thinking of booking here, it looks great:thumbsup2

I'd go for it.
Amerisuites are great. I made a web site about the one across from Universal.

They cost more than a budget hotel, but the breakfast is great, and the rooms don't have hotel smell.

Are you going between Christmas and New Years?

If you are, I would seriously recommend considering one of the on-site hotels for the FOTL.

It gets pretty busy during Christmas week, and FOTL allows you to have a pleasant and relaxing vacation. However, if you plan it right and hit the parks at opening, then you can usually get everything done that you want to.

goofy;

This will be our 3rd visit to Universal/IOA during christmas week, so we definitely know what to expect. We never really needed FOTL because we always got in the single rider lines, and never waited more than 10-15 minutes and thats was during one of their busiest times. On our last two visits, we actually walked back to our hotel from Universal on NYE night because their were so many people, and it worked out fine, because it was a crowd of us walking back. We actually may consider spending NYE night at Portofino or Royal Pacific, but have not decided yet.
