We have booked a premier tower whirlpool room at Hotel Royal Plaza (got a great deal through Travelzoo). Has anyone stayed there before?? How was it?? Any suggestions for our stay??:earsgirl:

Yep we stayed there 2 years ago for 9 days. Well I guess my thoughts would be this. It IS a nice hotel, rooms are spacious the bathrooms where awsome, whirlpool for the nightly footsoak after the parks was great. Service was fine, never really needed anything sooo...Here is my only complaint, their bus service is lacking. At first I loved the A/C and the plushness on the buses, then I found out they park not nearly as close to the park entrance as WDW buses, we waited out in a HOT middle of the parking lot (they have numbered spots for tour buses) for an hour and a half at AK waiting for a bus. Also the buses service 6 out of 7 of the hotels, so, even if you have waited awhile for the bus, you may have to wait several round at park closings to catch a bus because of the number of people catching that particular bus, which is why after a long day at the park, we ended up catching a WDW bus to DTD and walking back to the hotel. I can tell you it made for a long walk after a day in the parks. If at all possible, I would wait for a code, and do a moderate or a value resort.

I would stay there again, however, don't think I would do it with kids, and this is only due to the buses. I have stayed at the Wyndham and they seemed to have their own bus, it was awsome all the way!!

We stayed there In January 2003. Wehad gotten a GREAT deal.We had ajoining rooms. My husband was helping with a conference being held there. The weather was too cold for swimming, so I cannot address that. The laundry was nice, the rooms big and the kids eat free was very good. My only problem( and it is one that can occur alot in Florida) was the mold in the room. You could see it on the heating unit vent. My son became VERY sick with his asthma while we were there. I had all of his supplies with me except one medicene. The staff there was GREAT about sending a cleaning crew to the room quickly. They pulled the furniture out scrubbed with clorox and got rid of the mold. They even sent someone to the drugstore for me to get my sons meds.

All in all it wasn't the worst place I have ever stayed, I just wish they had caught the mold problem before we did. I also agree with the other poster about the bus situation. we ended up driving our rental to the parks and just paying ourselves. You do not get free parking at the parks if you stay there. They are not a "Disney" hotel.::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

We're staying in an executive king suite at Royal Plaza for our honeymoon in August. We're looking forward to it! :)

Just back from a great vacation, this hotel was perfect for us. We checked in on June 9 and stayed for 5 nights. I was impressed with our King Suite with whirlpool tub that two can fit in, with a separate shower. The room was nice an spacious, with a living room area, wet bar, stocked fridge, safe. My girlfriend and me had plenty of room. We were on the 12th floor facing DTD; we could see PI & IllumiNations fireworks from our balcony. The balcony was standing room only, but still a nice view. This hotel was nice and clean, the pool was like a L shape, plus a nice whirlpool, no kiddy pool, they also have a pool bar lots of sunbathing chairs, plenty of towels, nice fitness center, also I was impressed with the Disney store there. The CM working in this store was very helpful with information. They have a nice lounge with 4 pool tables, dartboards, video games, and jukebox.

I think it was really setup nice. I’m not saying this is the best hotel I have stayed at, but for $99 for a King Suite, I think I got a good deal. I don’t recommend this hotel for small children; I think it’s set up more for couples. The bus system worked fine, it was always on time, never had a problem with it. The walk to DTD about 10 Min and I am in good walking shape, but still not a bad walk for most people. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with something negative about this trip. Would I stay there again? Perhaps, but I would probably want to try somewhere different. In conclusion, I have heard mixed reviews about this place. I stayed in a tower suite so can’t comment on any other rooms.

We stayed here 5 nights in Dec 2003.
The hotel was lovely and clean, nice views of DTD, couldnt fault it really:D
Have a great stay!

We stayed at this hotel in September 03. We loved it! We had a handicapped accessible room on the first floor. We were pleasantly surprised that the first floor rooms all have private patios that face the pool area. It was wonderful for us to be able to sit with our handicapped daughter on the patio and be able to watch the other two children play in the pool. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our room had a king bed, and a full-size daybed. It was a great value for us - we got the Mousesavers rate of $49.00/night.
