We are staying at ASMov in late July. Real excited! My DD will be celebrating her 7 b-day. The trip is part of her b-day present.

Did you like your stay? What to expect: bus times? check in time? food court? etc. And which bldg should I request. We booked a standard room, the preferred room was booked. We'd like to be close to the bus stop and food court but also close to a pool.

Thanks

I stayed there last year and I'm going back in Sept. Personally, my ds(7) and I enjoyed it. If you request one of the Toy Story buildings you'll be close to everything. We never waited for a bus longer than 10mins. Food Court was fine as well. I actually didn't find prices to bad and the food was good.

The important thing is to know what to expect to avoid disappointment. It is a value resort, the rooms are a little on the small size and don't really have a whole lot of extras. The rooms and resort are very clean and bright. Besides swimming and a small games room there are not alot of activities at the resort. However you are only a bus ride away from the rest of the world.

Happy planning!!

We were there last May and loved it. I agree that the Toy Story building would be a great location!!

We haven't stayed at ASMo but we did stay at ASMu Feb 03. It was great(don't know if I will ever stay at a deluxe resort again.. well not with my son anyway :) )

Buses were outstanding, Food was ok at the Food court, the pool was great. I have heard that the ALL STARS are pretty much the same so I would imagine that the ASMo will be great too.

We saw ASMo available for our trip in Nov and decided that because DS and I are HUGE Disney Movie fans..it would be perfect to celebrate his sixth birthday.

We have already requested the Toy Story building. Does anyone know if this building has smoking rooms?

We stayed at ASMO last july and loved it, We were in toy story. I agree pool was great. :) Room was plenty big enough for dh, myself, and GS 9yrs at time.
We had our own car so i can't help you with the buses. We didn't really eat at food court exept to order pizza one night.

We stayed at ASMO in 2002. I loved the brightly colored rooms and the bathroom. The rooms are small, but lovely. We stayed in the Woody building and on the way to the food court you pass the playground which is great for the kids. The food in the foodcourt was good. I liked the Mickey waffles.:smooth:

I think the food court is one of the best things about ASMovies. We just love the Hollywood look to it

We have stayed there twice, once in the dalmation wing and once in Toy Story. Both areas were great, close to Cinema Hall and the pool. My dd was 2 the first time, 3 the next, and she loves it....We stayed in the Woody building last time, and every time we left or came back to the hotel, she would say "Theeere's Woody!" It's also very cute the way that they have set up the Buzz and Woody sections around "Andy's Room". Yes the rooms are a little small, but we didn't spend much time there anyway, and we really only used the food court for breakfast. We were there in Oct. both times, and used the pool, but it was a little cold for dd. Bus service was great, as was mousekeeping. Had a little tiff with the manager at checkin and a mess up with our silver plan wishes, but all was resolved. Hope you have a great stay!!! Say hi to Woody for us!!!

I just got back from ASMo, and loved every second there. My wife and I stayed at Mighty Ducks 3. It was a little longer of a walk than most of the other themed areas (though not by much), but being next to the "quiet" pool made up for it (especially when coming back from DTD @ night to get in a few hours of pool time before it closed).

As for the rest of your questions: for bus times, get there early. There were some mornings where 5 minutes made a big difference on where you stood in line. When we checked in, we were given the card stating that check in was @ 3:00 PM, though our room wasn't ready until 3:30. No big deal, it just gave us time to break in our refillable mugs.

I guess the biggest thing (as tmli and a few others have mentioned) is know that it is a value resort, and place your expectations accordingly. My wife & I made our expectations based on info we found from various sources, and were pleased that ASMo met, or exceeded every one of them.

I hope you enjoy your stay! :)

We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice now, and we're heading back in October!!! My youngest DD loves it there (last Dec, we stayed at the Grand Floridian and she wanted to visit the All Star Movies!)

I found bus service at the All Star Movies to be some of the best transportation on site! We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus; and most of the time, we did not share with the other All Stars.

The food court is great - food was pretty good, and not that bad in price. The gift shop is wonderful!

In Nov/Dec, 2000, we stayed in Love Bug. It was so quiet, and a short walk to the food court/bus stop. In Nov/Dec, 2001, we stayed in 101 Dalmtaions! Again, it was very quiet, and still a short walk to the food court/bus stop! My little girl loved playing by the huge TV right outside our bldg - she would pretend she was on TV every time we passed by!!

We thought the rooms were great - very clean and nice enough for four of us! At night, I would leave the stroller open, and had it ready to go in the morning!

I would highly recommend the All Star Movies! We'll be back Oct 13-18!!! Can't wait!!!!!!

Another thumbs up for ASMo.

Our DD loved it and always asks to go back (poor kid - I'm depriving her this trip :p ). We stayed in the 'Woody' building which was great, the theming of the whole resort is fantastic for young families :D

We stayed at ASMO May/June 2002. We were in the Dalmation building and it was close to the lobby/foodcourt area. We always used the Mighty Duck pool because it was less crowded than the Fantasia pool and just as close. The resort isn't that big overall and so I don't think it matters too much which building you are in if you don't mind to walk a little bit.

We enjoyed the pizza at the foodcourt and the hand scooped icecream and of course the refillable mugs are great.

The bus stop was never too crowded leaving except for early morning, and then coming back the buses would get crowded at park closing because ASMO shares with the other All-Star resorts for most parks. The buses seemed just as good as the other Disney Resorts I've stayed at.

We enjoyed ASMO and would recommend it and stay there again.

Our last trip was at the ASMovies and we all thought it was great! We were in the Fantasia building, but I think 101 Dalamtions was the next closest.

The bus service was excellent, although we did split traveling between our car & the busses just because DH needs to be "in control" sometimes ;)

Food court is awesome,PLENTY of choices there, and the gift shop has quite the array of stuff, too.

Check in was always easy for us,but we were usually checking in around 1-2:00 in the afternoon. They have a t.v.(playing Disney movies)and couches set up for the little ones to watch while you check in(nice touch)so it keeps them occupied.

I reckon I don't have anything much to add to all of the previous posts except to re-affirm much of what has been said. We've stayed at ASMovies twice before and are staying there again for part of our trip the end of this month.

It may be just my perception, but I don't think any of the buildings are too far a walk from Cinema Hall. We've stayed in both Herbie and Toy Story. This time we've asked for Dalmations b/c my little girl loves dogs.

It's true the rooms are smallish but it's not repressively small. Unless you have a lot of people or a loud family, you probably won't notice it.

The food court is great! Maybe my food tastes aren't very refined, but I love the food court at ASMovies. It is better than at the Moderates; there's more selection.

Several posters have said that you need to set your expectations accordingly. I agree. Here's two thoughts to consider: the value resorts have, seemingly, a lot of kids. Be prepared for a lot of noise. Not so much in your room, but everywhere else. This was more noticeable to us the last time we were in WDW and didn't stay at an All Star resort. We stayed at Dixie Landings and the quiet was palpable. Secondly, they don't have bar soap in the bathroom, just liquid soap. It's a minor inconvenience but some people don't care for it.

I'd be surprised, however, if you didn't really enjoy the hotel. It's a lot of fun.

I would like to thank everyone for the responses!!! We are really looking forward to the trip.. I just wish it could get here sooner!

We stayed at the AS Movies in 2000. At check in I had inquired about requeting a certain section within the resort. They told me that we were in the Toy story building and I was excited. My son
had just gotten into toy story and was and still is crazy for Buzz.

I would love to stay there again. We are going on the disney
cruise in October 2004 but for the room we are booking we will
be choosing either the AKL or the BC.

TOY STORY SECTION, BEST BET, especially with a little Buzz Nut.

I am so happy to see all of these positive responses!!! We are also staying at the All Star Movies for our first family trip to WDW in August and on another board all I heard about the ASmo was negativity! My boys are very excited about staying here and can't wait to check out all the Toy Story stuff, we requested the Toy Story building, I hope we get it!!! Oh and so glad to hear the transportation was too bad, since we aren't renting a car this will really be an important factor!!
