Has anyone stayed at Amy's RV park in Georgia?

It appears that we will be ready to stop for the night when we are in mid to south Georgia. I have read some good things about Amy's RV Park and vaguely remember passing a sign or two advertising it while on the way to WDW previously.

Has anyone stayed here? Or does anyone have any other good play to stay just off I-75 somewhere in the southern half of Georgia? (Before we go a bit farther and stop in Florida, but are leaving later and won't make it that far the day we leave.)

We stayed there in April for the first time. It was nice--gravel interior roads but plenty of room. It seemed quite safe. The comfort station was very clean. They had a small kids play area. It worked well for us.

This time we are going to try to make it to the Jennings campground in North Florida. Ever stayed there?

Haven't stayed at Jennings. I don't recall hearing of it -- what town is it in?

We stayed at the Inn and Out RV park in Lake City in North Florida on our last trip. It was very plain, but served our purpose -- level, pull-through lots, quick and easy check-in and -out with nice staff, very inexpensive and safe.

We've stayed at Amy's as well as in Jennings. As for Amy's, it is okay, no frills ....... no FW, but at least the spots were pretty level. It isn't far off the e-way, so getting on and off 75 is easy. We have stayed at the Jennings campground and would never advise that for anyone. The spots were really hard to get into, as they have these lamp posts at the very edge/end of each campsite that get in the way of pulling/backing in. The posts are the 6 ft. tall kind and half of them are all crooked, as they have been hit too many times. Overall, not a great place. We compromise now and stay in Valdosta on every trip at the KOA there. I think it is called Riverside (not sure), but we stay there every trip down. It is right alongside of I-75 on the service drive and next to a huge flea market that is only open on weekends. The sites are easier to get into, they are pretty well organized at the front desk area (I hate to mess around with inept staff when I'm tired and road-weary ...... doesn't show my usual sunny side) and it is only 6 miles from the FL/GA border. Valdosta gets my vote every time.

We'll have to try the Valdosta KOA, since I wasn't thrilled with either of the other two mentioned. I travel with my son and dog, so security/safe "feeling" is paramount for me. Amy's was OK, close to hwy, and pull through was nice, but we were WAYYYY far away from restroom, and I wouldn't let son swim in pool it was so buggy (the air was, too, so they may clean it regularly, and just can't keep up, I don't know). Jennings had a much nicer pool, but that darn light at the edge of the site almost did me in, too! It was RIGHT on the hwy, and I think there was maybe one other camper there, so I just didn't feel real safe. The people who checked me in couldn't have cared less, basically.

The WORST experience we had? Staying at the Jellystone near Mammoth Cave last summer, kids running in gangs throwing rocks, everyone parked on this huge hill, so I slept all night sleeping with my feet braced against the end of the bed, and the police coming out twice! Never again...

Terri: Since we will be arriving late and leaving early and not using the "amenities" such as the pool, I am primarily concerned with having a level, pull-through spot, competent staff and generally safe and quiet. Was the staff at Amy's friendly/helpful? Did you feel safe enough and was it quiet?

All seemed to be pull throughs, the older lady who checked us in was nice, led us out to our site on her golfcart, and the others there seemed to be people on their way somewhere, not "scary folk", just people looking for a place to sleep it seemed. It was quiet, despite being fairly close to the highway, and level enough for a tired me! I didn't use the comfort station, because it was sort of to one side of all the campsites, and, of course, we were on the other side! Since it didn't have a lot of amenities, it probably doesn't attract a lot of families with kids or party groups. I think (but don't hold me to this) that that lady and her husband stayed in their trailer right there on the property, which always makes me feel safer. I would stay there again if all we were going to do was sleep.

PS I forgot to mention, for safety's sake, I ALWAYS try to stop in time to be able to hook up the water and elec before it's pitch black out. My DH has said, "If someone tries to break in or scare you, just get in the driver's seat and pull out, we can replace the hoses!" I honestly feel safer in most campgrounds than I do in motels nowadays...
