Hi,
I'm debating a cruise.....I like the Miracle's itinerary better.....but it lookes like the Jewel ship might be nicer with better kids amenities.
Has anyone sailed either ship.....or both?
How was it any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kerri

I haven't been on either so I can't comment but just wanted to let you know that there is a cruise board called www.cruisecritic.com. They have great reviews and people that aren't so rabid DCL fans (like me :goodvibes ). You'd probably get some really great responses over there. :)

thanks so much.....i will check it out....i love the dis:goodvibes

I love DCL also.....i need them to come to NY...that would be sooooo awesome.

I haven't sailed on either BUT I have sailed on Norwegian Dawn (heard it was similar to the Jewel) We have also sailed on Disney Magic & Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas. And the Norwegian Dawn was by far our favorite cruise. It was truly a beautiful ship.

And this July we will be sailing on the Norwegian Jewel. Can't wait.

And I will second checking out cruisecritic!!!

I would definitely ask this on Cruise Critic, but note if you post it on the NCL boards, of course they will say the Jewel is better, and if you post it on Carnival, they will say the Miracle is better. Posting it on both can maybe give you the info you need.

I have never cruised with NCL. I did cruise on the Carnival Legend, which I believe is a sister ship of the Miracle and it is my favorite Carnival ship. A bunch of my friends have done the Legend and the Jewel and some liked NCL better, and others liked Carnival better. They were both chartered cruises though.

Thanks.....I'm torn between Carnival miracle and the norwegian jewel. I like the miracles itinerary better....puerto rico, st thomas and grand turk.

norwegian goes to port canaveral....a complete waste for me....nassau....been there....and great stirrup cay.....which sounds nice. Ahhh decisions....LOL...

I would definitely go on the Miracle based on that itinerary.

Funny you post this - we just booked the Miracle for June, after trying to decide between that and the Jewel. I have been on the Pride, which is a sister ship to the Miracle (same layout) and loved it.

We chose it based on the price and ports ultimately. We are doing the other Miracle itinerary (they alternate every other week I think) which goes to Nassau, Grand Turk, and Half Moon Cay.

I definitely want to try a Norwegian cruise at some point, but will probably wait until 2011 and go on the Epic. We've been on RCCL, Carnival, and Disney in the past.

I sailed on the Miracle a couple of years ago. It was a wonderful cruise! Ship was beautiful and the staff were great. I'd go again without any hesitation.

I would go on Miracle based on the itinerary too.
DH and I went to Half Moon Cay last summer and it has a great beach- white, clean sand and clear water. There weren't any rocks to conquer as you are entering the water and there wasn't any seaweed. We rented a private cabana and it was worth every penny.

We went to Alaska this past August on the Norwegian Star and it was AWESOME. My DS9 did not even want to do any of the "kids" stuff ... he had a FABULOUS time just being with all of us. (DD15 didn't do teen stuff either)

I think I'd pick the cruise depending on the itinerary. They're all pretty nice.

How old are your kids? I'll bet they have a great time on the ship no matter what there is to do! Especially if it's warm and they can use the pool(s). We couldn't really do that cuz it was a bit too chilly in Alaska for that.

DW and I did a cruise (our first) on the Norwegian Jewel in Jan 08. It was a 5-day western Caribbean. We both loved the ship--it was brightly-appointed, lots of neat dining rooms and lots to do around the ship. And we really like Norwegian's Freestyle Cruising. Even though DW liked the ship, she just doesn't think she's a "cruise person"--her favorite days were our shore excursions.

Her favorite day on the ship was our last day when we paid $20 each to use the spa facilities all day. It was a rough day at sea and she much preferred being inside and relaxing. If we ever cruise again (we both would definitely recommend Norwegian), we plan on getting the spa pass for the week--it's around $75.

I also am going back & forth what to do. :confused3 I posted this thread & got some good reviews.

We currently have our 1st Western Caribbean booked this Oct but since just getting back on our 2nd Wonder cruise & not getting that thrill you get the 1st time we are pretty sure that same feeling will be there on the Magic since it the same ship. This last time we didnt do any of the shows since just saw them in August. We found the food to be okay. My daughters 15 & 8 did not utilize any of the clubs either time. I LOVE that Magic feeling & the welcome feeling on DCL but we love new experiences. I am just not sure what other cruise line to go with.:confused3

FYI Carnival can be more of a party ship and does attract more of the "younger set" who love to party.

I have been on two carnival cruises and it wasn't a party ship, sure people were having fun and their are alot of different age groups on the ship. I took my four kids and they had a blast and their are alot of family activities too.We are going again in June for our 25th anniversary and taking two of the kids and looking at the miracle too. We can't wait!

I've heard that has a lot to do with cruise length. Meaning that a 3 day Carnival will have more of a younger set than the 7 day. I guess it has something to do with expense. :confused3
