Has anyone rented a reservation before?

I'm trying to make a decision. I notice on the rent board that there aren't many reservations for rent. Just wondering if anyone had had any luck just renting out a reservation they already have in place but can't use?

On the DIS, a reservation has to be 30 day or less out from the start of the trip. Any others cannot be posted unless you pay the big bucks to post those.

Yeah I know. That's why I'm wondering if it's worth it, guess I'm just having a hard time letting go of my reservation(can you tell I really wanted to go)! I made it for me and I don't want to just cancel it. But I think canceling it and renting out the points would be better than having to put points in holding.

My experience has been that folks always want to change something about the reservation. Very few want to take it "as is". It makes it difficult. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I rented an exisiting reservation on a different website since I didn't want to wait till 30 days to post here on the DIS and I found a renter within 1 hour of posting! I called MS...changed the names and within another hour she paid me via paypal. It was quick and easy!

I rented a reservation for rent here on DIS. about 3 days ahead of time. It really just lucked out that air was cheap enough. I paid pennies on the dollar. Maybe 4-5$ a point. SSR in early Dec, maybe 3 yrs ago.

I would try other places 1st. Friends, family, ebay, craigslist ect. If the points are not expiring try renting the points too.
