Has Anyone Received a Third Dose

In Manitoba . AZ - P - P. I felt awful after AZ for a day. Felt fine after both Pfizers other than a sore arm the second time.

I got my third shot this past Saturday. I’m double AZ, but I had just arrived on Oahu and while I was fairly confident that the new US rules coming into effect in Nov would recognize double AZ, I wasn’t so sure about the local Oahu and Maui vaccine policies re dining in restaurants, etc., so I was considering staring an FDA approved series of vaccines while I was over there. While I was at Target the first morning loading up on snacks (and wine) the in-store Long’s Drugs was offering walk-up Moderna doses. So I got one. Frankly, it knocked me off my rocker a bit. Nothing major, but definite aches, pains and headache. Enough for me to be waiting outside the ABC store when it opened at 6am the next morning to buy Advil, but not enough to stop me from thoroughly enjoying my 72 hours in Hawaii.

My bad, I meant to say currently in AB, Alberta!!! Sorry about that

In Alberta, if you have an international trip planned (US or otherwise), they will also allow you to have your 3rd shot. At least it was like this a few weeks ago. We were supposed to drive down to the US to get our kids SSN's and they allowed us to get our third shot.

I got a third dose two weeks ago. I had a letter from my rheumatologist stating the drug that I'm on qualified me for a third dose. He had told me that the roll out of third doses for the immunocompromised was not very easy to navigate and although doctors were given clarity as to who qualified just how to get them the third dose was not clear. He provided me with a letter all the docs in the clinic were using and I went the very next day to a pop-up/walk-in vaccine center. The letter was taken from me and scrutinized by what I thought of as a head table of judges lol and deemed acceptable. Even then the doctor administering my dose also carefully read the letter and then got up to ask the 'judges' a question before giving me the shot. All my shots have been Pfizer and I've been fine after all three save for a bit of tenderness at the site, similar to after a flu shot. Last night I received an email from my rheumy's clinic saying that the province (Ontario) is now saying we need to take our drug packaging with label, our name etc on it to the vaccine center so I guess they are still working out what is required for peeps like me to get our 3rd dose.

For those in Ontario who are mixed vaccination, I called Toronto Public Health to ask how I would record a shot of MRNA if I chose to get a matching shot in Florida when I’m there next month (if they haven’t agreed to accept mixed vax for future trips) and she said that they have no way to record my third shot as the system only has room for shot one and shot two! Any Ontarians had success over riding this??

I don't think it would matter in Ontario. Your mixed vaccines are valid here so until or if they start saying they will provide a booster or 3rd dose you only need to hold onto the card for travel purposes to the US or other destinations that don't accept mixed vaccines.

I realize it doesn’t matter in ontario, but so far cruises won’t accept mixed vaccinations (we have one booked in February) and travel into US as of early November may also not recognize mixed vaccines so we just want to get matching MRNA types so we are not restricted. Other provinces are doing it for their citizens and it’s frustrating that Onatrio won’t and public health says they can’t record a third dose if we got it in US or even another province

When you get a shot in the US, you get a CDC vaccination card with the vaccine info (type, date, lot number) along with your name and birthdate. Couldn’t you just submit that along with your Ontario record?

I wonder if cruise lines would accept documentation from two different countries to show your vax status!?

I had my 3rd dose this week (in Ontario though) but it is definitely recorded on my vaccine certificates as dose 3 and there are 3 doses that appear in the list on the Ontario booking site so there must be a way to add a 3rds -- even if it was administered outside Ontario. I did get the feeling there were still some growing pains with the 3rd doses in terms of process and procedure.

I get that. I was just saying you would be able to show the physical copy of the vaccination. It would show matching doses. It doesn't have to be in digital form.

Here in BC I think 3rd doses are only being given to severely immune compromised people so far.

WE are in Alberta and my son had a pfizer / Moderna. We have a cruise booked for Oct 2022, and cruise ships where not accepting mixed dosing about a month ago... He was able to get a third shot (pfizer) to make him fully vaccinated for our international travel. He felt 100% fine, zero affects

Royal Caribbean is now accepting Mixed dose. My son had Pfizer/moderna and just a couple weeks ago got pfizer as his third because our Royal Caribbean Cruise line was being wishy washy about mixed dose protocol. Just to save the hassle we got him a third dose so he won't have to worry anymore if he'd be turned away. Just after he got his third does they approved mixed doses. But we weren't about to trust that they wouldn't restrict them again!

Thank you for posting this. It prompted me to do some digging, and indeed Ontario has revised the guidance a bit for third doses for the immunocopromised, to make ti easier. The new recommendations are here: https://health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/pro...VID-19_vaccine_third_dose_recommendations.pdf They include "Table 1" which lists the qualifying medications by name [instead of just type, which is what they were listed as before]. And now patients who are on one of those medications apparently don't need a letter from their doctor, they should be able to bring the prescription / medication package with Rx label with them to the vaccine centre to get the third dose. Good new from me as I do not yet have the letter from my MD, but I certainly have a copy of my Rx and lots of the labeled medication packages :-) I will be off to the pharmacy this weekend for dose 3. So, THANK YOU !!!!

So I think things are changing fast enough that Rheumatologist offices aren't totally able to react fast enough. This is so beyond the norm for them. When they added the 1st criteria my Methotrexate meds would have allowed me to get a 3rd dose ... a few days later the Otezla would have covered me.

Things are moving fast....

We are also thinking of getting a third dose in November to mitigate any issues for our December Disney trip (by air) amd our February cruise. However, one thing is confusing me a bit- does it really not matter how far apart the doses are? My first dose was in April (Pfizer), the second one was in June (Moderna), so if I were to get another Pfizer shot in mid-November, that would be almost an eight-month gap. Would this really be acceptable for the US (and cruise lines) from what people have seen and read? I can’t seem to find anything concrete about time limits for the series.

From the CDC website. I don't know if this applies to cruises
