Has anyone on UK disboards ever bought GO LA Cards from Smart destinations and had them shipped to the UK rather than printing off a paper voucher to redeem there?
You would have the $20 delivery fee but no import dues as far as I know, the card has no value as what you are buying stays abroad, not importing.
Are you not going anywhere near a collection point? $20 is a lot for delivery.
They charge $4 anyway for collecting in city and we wanted to make sure that we had the cards before we needed them as we're checking out of the hotel in Anaheim - going to Santa Monica for the 5 hour LA and star homes tour and then checking into our 2nd hotel after the tour, so won't have time to go anywhere to pick tickets up.
We already purchased them and they arrived this morning via fedex express. The value on the front for customs is $1 but the invoice attached to the back shows the value as $1147. I just suddenly panicked thinking I would end up with a hefty fedex bill based on the value - not the declared customs value of $1.
I suppose I'll just have to wait and see - but wondered if anyone else on here had done the same thing so I could prepare myself!
FedEx surely wouldn't leave the item without payment. Happened to me twice (a monopoly game & Pins both from US) once they brought the item and I had about £20 to pay on the spot, other time they sent a card 1st telling me I had to go online(or phone) and pay before they would despatch.
When I purchase jewellery making stuff from a US website and have it shipped via fedex - I normally receive the goods followed by a bill several days later that I have to pay. I've had this too when I've ordered snowglobes from Disney in the US. I'e also had to pay the way you state as well for disney pins in the past - so they can bill either way, unfortunately.
Never heard it done that way around but as I say you have not brought anything in of value, just a card. I have never heard of anyone being charged for tickets by a courier.
