I was thinking about getting it for DD, but the reviews aren't positive. Anyone have any firsthand experience with it? TIA

We used to have one years ago. I imagine they have improved it some since then. The kids enjoyed making the crayons more than they enjoyed using them after they were made. It was given to them as a gift from an in-law. It did have hot components. Again, this was several years ago.

We got one a few years ago. So it looks different than the one they sell now. But my kids liked it. In fact you reminded me to take it out. They loved melting all kinds of colors together to see what they could get.

But I will say it loses it's novelty pretty quickly.

We got one a few years ago and I thought it was just a big old PITA. DD liked it, but lost interest in it after a time or two of trying to make crayons. Not sure if the design changed or not.

I'm sure. It's probably in the same category as the Easy Bake oven and the Snoopy Sno Cone machine.

DD is 11. I always get her a craft related gift and thought she'd get a kick out of making crayons.

We had one a few years ago and it was awful so don't waste your money

Yes....it was a piece of junk. I would not recommend.

You know, it isn't a cheap gadget; it's about $50. So many negative reviews can't be wrong. Oh well, my search continues.

Thanks for your opinions.:thumbsup2

does she have a shrinky-dink machine?

inexpensive, relativly easy to use and works well.

i just pulled ours in from the garage the other day and the kids were playing with it.

Ahh the good ol' Snoopy Sno Cone machine... mine never worked once. :lmao:

I think ours is somewhere in a kitchen cabinet. :lmao:

She doesn't have a shrinky-dink machine. I'll look for them when I go shopping.

A couple years ago, she asked for Moon Sand. Talk about messy, but she still plays with it.

ya don't really even need the machine - just the sheets of plastic and cook 'em in the oven :thumbsup2

Okay I admit favorite toy in 1976 ;)

Hello fellow Tortolian Nan!

Mine too. Just did them in the oven, made lots of Christmas ornaments with them. My daughter got just the sheets last year and she still plays with them, her friends get a kick out of it too.
