I would like to know if anyone has planned or attended a private function in either the DL/DCA theme parks or resorts. I have a summer trip planned and am thinking of adding something special to that trip. I would love to hear what others have experienced in either the resorts or theme parks since I haven't been to DL in years and really have no idea what special events they offer. Any tidbits of information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I know that they have dinners in some of the attractions during Disney special events.

My dream would be an event in Walt's apt on Main Street, the Lilly Belle train car or the balcony of the Disney Gallery. I know...I dream big. ;)

Most events they annouce through the Disney Gallery (they have a website somewhere) and I think about 2/3rds of those are pin events

The only special thing I did was my other internet group got to have a private brunch in Club 33 last week :)

Tink33, oh, I love your dreams, ~sigh.~ Any of those places would be magical.

Disneyland_emily, how dare you not go into details. Come on, spill the beans! I wanna hear all about it (and see photos, too).

Janet, I've read a lot about your trips on the WDW Resorts board. I'm not sure how many you are taking with you to DL. But based on what I've read from you, I would think you would like reserving the entire balcony for the Fantasmic dessert buffet (taking the whole balcony to make it a private event). It wouldn't be cheap ($50/head for about 15 heads). But neither is a trip out on the Grand One. ;)

Snurk71, thanks for the chuckle! You are too funny. ;)

One of my dear Dis buddies (Nutz4dzny) asked my family to join her family in DL this summer. Neither of us have been to DL in years, and we think it will be an absolute hoot to re-discover the place where it all began.

In honor of our friendship and love of all things Disney, I told my dear friend that I would look into seeing what sort of event could be planned for a small group. I'm hopeful that something exists in the DL bag of tricks that will strike our fancy. Something, so to speak, that will allow us to celebrate life, family, and friendship. Right now I have no preconcieved notions as to what sort of event that might be. It could be something as simple as booking one of the VIP Tours. Since you mentioned the Fantasmic dessert buffet, I must say that is definitely something that is on our list of things to try. I prefer Fantasmic in DL and am looking forward to seeing it again after all these years, ~sigh.~

I have been to two private functions at DCA. The first was a pre-opening event for Disney Castmembers when I worked for Disney Store. This was about two weeks before the park opened to the public. It was my first time there and it was pretty nice. I also attended a private event with my current company, where we had Paradise Pier to ourselves for an entire evening. That was fun too.

In 1991, I was fortunate enough to visit Walt Disney's apartment above the Main St. Fire house. It was one of the most memorable moments that I have ever had. You really feel Walt's presence in that small space.

Janet, I too have read your wonderful trip reports & just wanted to say that there are some great "little things" that the Disney Planners could help you with at that onsite hotels and such that you would probably enjoy(room deliveries etc)and also I have read about groups doing a nighttime cruise on the Mark Twain, which sounds Heavenly!! If you'd like I'll pm you the link to this.

Defintely check into renting the balcony for Fantasmic!!! :earboy2:

Oh, exDS vet, I am in awe. What a thrill that must have been, ~sigh.~

Dsnylndmom, I will definitely pick the brains of the planners soon. Nutz4dzny has booked both of our families into the Paradise Pier Hotel. Since she has arranged for concierge rooms, the bulk of my questions will be ones that I am sure the CMs have heard before.

I do love your idea of the Mark Twain Riverboat. That is on my list of events to inquire about.

Over a week ago, I contacted Disneyland regarding special events. I was told that they are not set up to handle small events. I was sad to hear that, but I will not let that deter me. I will try my best to see what can be done, that is why I turned to you folks here on the Dis. It's always nice to hear what others have experienced in the way of something a little out of the ordinary.
