Has anyone ordered everything on the menu in the dining rooms since it's free?

So we have been on only other Disney Cruise on the Wonder for our honeymoon back in 2005 and we read on the message boards that some people tell their server to bring one of everything from the menu for them to sample, since it's free. So my husband and I ordered multiple entrees and appetizers when we were in our dining rotations and it was really fun. Has anyone else done that? Do they still allow that?popcorn::

I got 2 dinners one night - not by my request, but because I was quizzing the server on which to get - and he brought me both.

DW and I did order 5 desserts between us one night too (I think there was only one we didn't order). Our server didn't even blink an eye.

I always order 2 escargot in Lumiers/Tritons/Royal Court/Palace because the rest of my family always wants to try some. I of course don't want to share my appitizer. And I have gotton both a soup & salad. Both my father and BIL have had 2 entrees when they quized the server over which is better.

I think if you want to try something, order it! Unfortunately, the way they plate things, you can't get just a "small portion" to try for most dishes - and sometimes if all you want is the meat, it's coming with the vegetables, too. I could see ordering one of each of the appetizers plus soup / salad - it would be like having tapas!

I've never been on a Disney Cruise but do they really bring you the full meal? I can't believe someone would order 5 main meals just to try a bit of them all, sounds quite greedy and wasteful if that food all goes to waste?

A couple of cruises ago DH really enjoyed the suggestions of our server so one night he told the server to pick for him. The poor server was beside himself, worried he'd bring something DH didn't like. Finally the server decided to bring him one of each. It was hilarious seeing all that food in front of DH. The nice thing was we got to try everything. DH didn't do that again and did apologize to the server for making him so anxious (that wasn't his intention).

Well, it's not really free. It's included in your cruise price. And yes, you can order any and all dishes you want, and yes, if you don't eat it, it will get thrown out.

There was a night where I couldn't choose between the sea bass and the lobster mac & cheese. I asked if I could just get a small portion of the mac & cheese, and my server told me that he would just bring me the whole portion so I didn't miss out on any lobster. :goodvibes

If you aren't sure on what to get, ask your server for their recommendation. I was never disappointed by something that my server recommended!

We ordered multiple full entrees and ate from all of them. No we didnt finish them all. It was fun and something we cant normally do. Not really worried about being greedy. It's not like we are taking away from other people. Live a little...

Maybe not greedy, unless you sampled the last of something just because you wanted to live a litttle, but definately wasteful IMHO.

I guess that is the advantage of being a big party, first time 7 and second time 8..b/w us all we would make sure we all ordered something someone else wanted to try...then if our server realized we really liked it, they would bring an extra plate of it..b/w 8 of us and 6 being teenagers, the food definitely was not wasted! :)

On our February cruise my DH ordered two entrees every night. After the first night our sever would take his order then ask "And for your second entree?" lol! I ordered both soups some nights, or soup and salad because they both looked great. I also ordered multiple appitizers some nights. And almost ALWAYS ordered multiple desserts:lmao: Our kids were amazing about trying new things, so we ordered several escargo's, oysters, and a 2nd entree of Lamb one night b/c all the kids wanted to try it. Myyoungest daughter ordered mac and cheese every night at the MDR, then again when we go to the room for bed. One night she wanted the ribs, and our very intune server brought her the ribs, and her mac and cheese. After thatshe felt comfortable ordering new things, b/c she knew that Dee would bring her mac if she didn"t like it. At home we do not allow this, you eat what is put in front of you, but on vacation we a little looser. OH! and Lobster night? We all ordered lobster, event the 7 year old, plus several kids ordered a 2nd entree too. I say live by Crusie Director Jimmy's advice "if you see it, eat it!"

My 8 years old didn't order the kids menu. She like the adult menu. and for the lobster night, we all get lobster, even my 4.5 years old daughter. She love it

I would never order everything on the menu, but we have ordered more than one entree or appetizer if we couldn't decide. At EG I ordered the scallops and then we (DH & DS) shared the sea bass and prime rib. I loved all of them and probably would do the same thing again, but would not share the sea bass. ;)

fairytalelover,

Although you do not think it is greedy, and yes you are not taking food away from anyone else, but you must admit it wasteful to order everything off the menu knowing there is no way you could possibly eat it all?

Maybe DCL should introduce a Tapas style option for the food for people that would like to try a bit of everything?

I was under the impression that if a child ordered off the adult menu, then they got that dish but in a child sized portion, not a full adult sized meal?

My DD13 is notorious for ordering something, then looking at what my husband and I ordered when it comes to the table and then asking to switch. By the third night she let me order for her :thumbsup2 Whatever I got, she got! But dang, I regret handing over that mushroom soup with truffle oil in it. Now THAT would be a time I wish I would have ordered another :thumbsup2 I did order two appetizers once when I didn't see anything I liked for the main dish on the menu. My server brought me something that was very popular anyway and I liked it.

Sometimes the menu descriptions are deceiving. It was interesting to watch what our table mates ordered. I'd think, hmm, that's not what I thought it would look like. Looks pretty dang good! Or, hmmmm, I didn't think it would look like this. :scared:

Well, I figure it this way; we are paying A LOT of money for the cruise and it's all you can eat which means that the thousands we spent paid for the food on the cruise then we are entitled to whatever we want to eat. It's not like we are really getting it for free nor are we taking it away from anyone else who wants it. This is one of the perks of a disney cruise which we have spent money for so we should be able to take advantage of it. So if we want to order more than one entree, appetized and dessert because we cannot decide then we will. :woohoo:

Respectfully I never said you weren't entitled to it, nor you took it away from anyone else, and I know you paid a lot for your cruise.

I merely said it you must admit it is wasteful to order more food than you know you will eat by ordering everything off the menu, just because you can.
That's all.

I don't think ordering a little extra of something, or even a little of everything is greedy or wasteful. DCL and the servers themselves encourage it so why not enjoy? I mean, isn't the very act of taking such a luxurious vacation a little wasteful? Surely that money could be put to better use for charity or something along those lines. ;)

I'd probably be way too embarrassed to order one of everything but I do plan to order an extra entree or appetizer from time to time. I think the steak at EG would be great with a "side" of scallops and asparagus. There's also a few new things I'd like to try without forgoing my favourites. That's one of the things we love about cruising - the chance to try new things without being stuck with the bill.
