It used to be that way, but now it's like this:If a kids meal is available they are supposed to order it
QS meals are not split into adult and child so you can order whatever meal you like
Seems unfair to charge less for a child for the same meal unless it were a buffet, especially considering the price difference between adult and child on the dining plan
All QS meals are pooled together with no restrictions. So there is no 'her QS' and 'your QS'.So I have the dinning plan and my daughter can order anything from a QS meal and it won't subtract as one of my meals? Just want to make sure. We are on our way there now and she would prefer not the typical kids type meals.
If Disney is willing to allow their own system to be "unfair" toward them every once in a while, that's okay with me.
To be clear, the brochure and terms still, even today, state that children must order off the children's menu. This has been enforced in the past by training employees to not allow you to purchase more adult meals at one time than there are adults on the reservation. Just because there's a loophole in Disney's implementation doesn't make it right to exploit. All QS meals are pooled together with no restrictions. So there is no 'her QS' and 'your QS'.

Now, there are reports that Disney is no longer enforcing that rule. But it's still written, and you can use your own moral compass to do what you believe is right.
QS credits have always been in grouped together; that is not new. The brochure has always, and still does, state that children must order from the children's menu. The only thing that might have changed is enforcement of the rule. There were always ways to get around it.I just got back. Before we went we knew they just changed the plan to QS credits are all the same. That turned out to be true. I ordered adult the whole week. The did not ask or care. Most of the time the kids are at the table with DH and we took turns coming up to get our food. I would get mine and DD4's adult entrees. They're in the system as all the same credits. Use them to your advantage and get the adult entrees. At AoA they had Smucker's Uncrustables as a side/dessert choice, so i got that for DD4 a few times as the dessert part, then i ate her entree, shared with her, or DH ate it.

For the most part, kids eat kid food but sometimes it's nice to be able to mix it up. Not trying to argue "fair" or not, just want to know what I can do. I think most people would argue that it's not "fair" to charge a 10 yr old adult prices, but rules are rules and if I can make my credits last a little longer this trip, great. My dd is 9 so this will probably be the last year for a while that we get the dining plan anyway.Seems unfair to charge less for a child for the same meal unless it were a buffet, especially considering the price difference between adult and child on the dining plan
And ... we're now allowed to talk about it on the DIS. This used to be a verboten subject.QS credits have always been in grouped together; that is not new.
