Has anyone made cash resi's....

.....and switched to points later on? I want to go back to HHI next August and bring some friends. My home resort is BWV and although I have gotten a 2BR in August 7 months out in the past, I want to ensure I get the room and week that I want. I was thinking of making cash reservations and when my window opens in January try and transfer the resi to points. Can this and has this been done by anybody?

I was thinking of asking a similar question. I booked a cash reservation and was wondering if I could buy points from another member (transfer) and use those instead. It might save me $75-100.

In practce,the short answer is maybe. If you have the points, and IF there is DVC availability, you can cancel your cash ressie and book on points.

Just because there is a cash room available does not mean there will be a points room available, they are different inventories.

Cancelling your cash reservation will not automatically free it up for points. It just frees it up for cash.

No money is needed to hold a cash reservations. So what's the risk? I'd say book cash and see what happens.
