Has anyone liked EVERY resort they've stayed at?

so needless to say I've been happy everywhere which thus far has included CBR, ASports AMusic, AMovies, POFQ and Contemporary. Fav thus far is POFQ for size and convenience of bus service and boat. Can't wait to try more.

I've stayed in lots of "fancy" hotels on business all across N. America. Love Disney's the best because they're...... well, Disney! Where else can you hop in your car or on a bus or monorail and see Goofy (and his friends) within a few minutes?

Wilderness Lodge- 2
CBR - 1
Coronado Springs - 1
Port Orleans French Quarter - 9

We always end up at the French Quarter. It has always been the best for our budget. It is quiet and in a great location. Always seem to be pleasant and happy people working there.

We also like Wilderness Lodge, but don't stay there often cause of the cost....but this summer we got and upgrade from POFQ and are looking forward to it.

WL in June...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I've stayed at:

GF (2)
Poly (1)
BC (1)
CBR (1)
DxL (1)
OKW (4)
BWV (3)
POFQ (1)
CSR (1)

The only 2 I wasn't crazy about was the Poly and CSR, just didn't like the themes.

Biggest surprise: POFQ. I stayed there with friends for a long weekend this past February and loved it. Our room was in great shape, not in need of renovation.

I have to say that I would never stay at the CSR again. They could not pay me to stay there again. However there are lots of people who not only like it they LOVE IT ! So it really is all in what you expect while staying . I have posted the story of how bad the trip was . I laugh when I look back but.... it was bad just bad and we could not be moved out of there because we tried after the 1st 1 hour.

I have! I loved each and everyone of them but found the Poly to be the only resort that I thought needed a little freshening up. It reminded me of the Brady Bunch!

Very retro! LOL

Wow! So many responses! I also agree that expectations are PART of the reason that we can have a bad experience.

When I stay at the AS- I try to appreciate it for what it is- a fun-themed-VALUE resort.

I haven't stayed a the GF, but I can tell it is no Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons. It just can't be for all the reasons that someone previously stated. That being said, I'm sure I would like it VERY much! I would also try to go when a really good code rate comes out. What you pay makes a difference. We paid rack rate once at ASSp (spur of the moment trip) and believe me, I did NOT think it was worth $99 a night! Nevertheless, we did have fun, no problems, and still liked the resort very much.

There have been things that I liked and didn't like about every resort I've stayed at.

All Star Sports--Liked the transportation, hated the small rooms, noise, unruly teens, poor guest service at the front desk.

POFQ--Liked the themeing, liked the laundry room. Didn't like the crowds at the food court.

AKL--Loved the service, the theming. Liked the trasnportation. Didn't like the proximately to 192, DH hates taht there is no place for him to run there.

YC--Liked the closeness to Epcot and MGM. Liked the restaurant variety within walking distance. Didn't like the concierge lounge. Found service to be hot and cold, didn't particularly care for the room decor.

BC--Loved the decor and the general "feel". Liked the service--usually, have had a couple "rotten apples". There are a few "really bad" rooms there, and I had one of the worst.

BCV--Same as BC, I prefer the decor at the BWV. The villas are smaller, and we didn't have a slider int eh MBR--just a window--which I really hated.

BWI--Love the location, the service was good, the decor in the rooms didn't knock me over.

BWV--Love the location, service is generally really good, love the room decor and layout. I prefer the standard view rooms, I like looking out over the front entrance and the pond.

Polynesian--Loved the decor, the service, the location, the size of the rooms. Great laundry room!

GF--Loved the location, the lobby. The room decor is ok, but not my favorite. Service is VERY hot and cold...it ranges from some of the best to some of the worst.

All in all I think the only one I would NEVER return to is the AS's. I would go back to the YC only if it was the only thing available.

I'll admit I am VERY picky. When I vacation I want the hotel to be at least as nice as my home, if not nicer. I don't like garish theming or color schemes, nor do I like "busy" prints (BWI/YC/GF) all over everything. If I can't be as comfortable while travelling as I am while at home, why bother to go?

I have to agree with Crazyforgoofy. My attitude towards the Disney hotels is that they're great b/c they're near WDW!

Although I have some minor gripes (CR CAN be noisy, service at almost all the hotels is sometimes is rude here and there), I have liked most things about every resort we've stayed at. I would re-visit any of them (though WL, AL, and BWV are our favs).

I have definitely liked every resort that we have stayed in!!

Poly (1)- It's been a long time now, but kids LOVED the beach, rooms were big and lush, loved sitting out on the balcony watching birds and monorail during naps.

Contemp (2)- ( parking lot views) 1st time had a room over dumpster, view wasn't so hot. Kids loved it though! The pool, light parade and especially the arcade!! 2nd time had much nicer view with tree outside. We really don't spend enough time in the room during the day to worry about the views. Loved the monorail going through hotel and being oin a Disney "classic".

Caribbean Beach (1)- loved the theming and the bright colors. Our room was quite far from the main building, and it was a very long walk with small children.

Port Orleans (3)- my kids loved this and kept wanting to go back. the pool was great, and the shorter walks much easier on the feet.

"Dixie landings" - (1)( Magnolia Mansions?) perhaps my favorite - absolutely beautiful grounds, flowers, etc.

Dolphin ( 5) The rates there just can't be beat!! Everybody loves it! We'll be back there again and again.

I have liked certain aspects of every resort in which we have stayed (please see my signiture). My least favorite, though was WL. I have to agree that the restaurants left a lot to be desired, and the rooms were way too cramped and small for the type of furniture in them. Also, and this is a personal preference, the decor was too dark and masculine for my liking. I did like the pool and the lobby, though, and the CM's were all very nice!

I tend to look for the good things about every resort, so I've enjoyed all of them that I've stayed at. These include ASSp, ASMu, POFQ, WL, Poly, and GF.

Absolutely!

Of course every visit wasn't perfect, but I would return to any of them in a heartbeat!

CBR (2) - We love the theme (we're from the Caribbean ourselves), and the service has always been good.

Poly (1) - A beach with MK view! We love the proximity to my favorite park.

POFQ (1) - Back when it juas just PO. We love the smallness - everything is close - and the theming and decor is just great.

WL (1) - One of our favorites. We haven't returned because timing and money weren't right, but we always visit it on each trip. It's just real warm and cozy.

CSR (1) - We were quite far from the Food Court, but we loved the walk every morning for breakfast. IMHO, CSR and POFQ have the best 'adult' themeing among the Moderates.

I forgot in my previous post to include what I liked about the other resorts in which we stayed, so here goes:

Dixie Landings (now PO-R) stayed there twice because we liked the theming (esp Alligator Bayou), the pool and pool bar, and the food court.

WL- I think I covered it before, but I like the pool and lobby there.

Contemporary- love the size of the rooms, the energy, and the convenience, not to mention our view of Bay Lake.

CBR- liked the theming, the colors in the rooms, the beachy atmosphere and the pool bar.

PO-FQ- love the quaintness, the compactness, the theming, the pool, the food court (esp those beignets), the CM's the bus service... can't you tell it is our favorite?

Here's the resorts my family has stayed at:

Caribbean Beach - First ever trip to Disney and will always be special. The size and quality of everything was great

All Star Sports - For less then $100, this place is great! How often are you really in your room at WDW? While yea the rooms are smaller, I'm in WDW. Plus the food court is GREAT and the pools are fun

Dolphin - We have stayed here twice and both times were PERFECT! Perfect service, perfect room, perfect stay!

Old Key West - We rented points from a DVC member and LOVED this resort! The setting and theme are awesome. The studios are even nice in that the layout is different than the standard hotel room! The food and cast members were great!

Grand Floridian -    Unless we get a rate better than the $199 we paid, we won't be back there anytime soon! The cast members were not friendly and the room was dirty when we first went into it! For the price we were paying, we were expecting to be treated a little more special than say when we were at the All Stars, but this was not true. While the rooms were nice, they weren't to die for.

....but NONE of these hotels compare to the PORTOFINO BAY HOTEL at Universal Orlando! For $175 you get a deluxe size room that is MUCH larger than any standard room at Disney. The themeing and cast members here make you truly feel like you are in Italy!!!

Honestly, if they stuck an AS hotel near where you live, do you think you would be impressed with it

Not at all. It would be just like the Red Roof or Days Inn.

Well, I have only been once and stayed at the Contemporary, but I am going again really soon and staying at ASMU, so I will know about that one then.

I loved the Contemporary. I loved the size of the room, the bright colors, the theme of the hotel, the monorail going through it, and the great view we had of the MK. I know I would still like staying here if it wasn't in WDW. I know I wouldn't feel the same with some of them, for instance the GF and the Poly I wouldn't want to stay at either way, but if it meant being at WDW I would stay there in a heartbeat.

I have enjoyed something about every resort:

1. ASMO - first time onsite. Loved the theming, clean, fun. You get what you pay for at the All-Stars (actually you probably get more if you get an AP rate of $59 like we did)! We enjoyed it and if budget were a big factor, would definitely return.

2. ASMU - just a one-nighter before moving to CSR. It was fun. I like the "3 Caballeros" in the pool.

3. CSR - LOVED this resort. Going back in a couple weeks. The pool is spectacular. Very adult. Bus service was best.

4. Dolphin - location, location location. The hotel was quite impressive, price can't be beat. Did I say I liked the location?

Dislikes?

1. All-Stars - a bit too busy and chaotic for us. However, we never heard thing in our rooms.

2. CSR - maybe wish for a second sink and that it was in Epcot area.

3. Dolphin - wish all rooms had balconies.
