If so, would you mind answering some questions, please? If you have the time. :)

1. Do you/did you enjoy your job? Is the job itself enjoyable?

2. Do you get a chance to 'give that Disney feeling' to people? (Besides keeping them all safe, I mean. ;) ) I always hear Disneyland CM's talking about experiences they've had of them doing something special for someone, and I think that'd be a great feeling to have. :wizard:

3. What type of things would you be doing?

4. I'm assuming it's a fairly safe job. Am I correct?

5. How difficult is it? I hope it's not one of those jobs that are so hard, they end up making you hate Disney. [:scared:]

6. Can you just go and apply for the job, without having a prior job in security and/or training?

That's all I can think of, so:

7. Anything else you'd like to share?

Thanks to anyone who helps out.

I am interested in this also. I would think that they would be realy police officer put I might be wrong.

well, i dont work in security but i can do provide some insite about it on what i have heard.

I know when you apply, its not that easy to get into security. I am told if you do get a way into applying into security, its either a hit or miss. which means if they dont pick you, you have to wait 6 months to apply again. You will have a better chance in getting security by working for another department and transferring into Security.

I believe when you first start, you will probably find yourself working very odd hours since you have less seniority than everyone else in the department. It might take you awhile before you start roam the park and such. You might find yourself with CMs more im guessing.

Might I suggest calling DL, to ask your questions, when you call, just tell the guest service member, the nature of your call, and they will direct or re-direct your inquiry,1-714-781-7920.

You might have better luck posting your questions over on MiceChat. Seems like there's more former CMs over there.

I never worked in security but I knew a few that have. The people I knew were either retired police officers, CMs that have background in security or part time police officers. Most of them got their jobs at Disney because someone recommended them.

So have you called Dl yet? to ask about that type of work.
Never confuse police work, with security work, they are completely different from each other, only a security guard, can become hurt or killed all the same as well. I have worked as a security guard, not at Dl, but rather elsewhere, and nothing worse than wearing a uniform, that looks just like a police uniform, because if someone hates cops, and they think that you are one, good luck, matter of fact, there are people that do not like even security guards, for they are wearing a uniform, that still is suppose to represent a certain semblance of peace, and order, and there are some people that resent that, so once again, you can still be targeted. The beginning pay is pretty bad too, and you may or may not, have any benefits.
My advice is to become a police officer, then when you retire, look into working security at DL, or wherever it may be, that interests you.
I have stories, from my time working in security, and frankly, very few are nice.

If you are asking because you are thinking about applying, you could probably get many of your questions answered by calling Disneyland Casting and asking them.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. :) And thanks to everyone that replied. :goodvibes

That just means I can't apply for security for six months, right? Let's say I get a "no" -- I could still apply for another position, without having to wait six months, couldn't I?

What kind of hours are considered "odd?"

I'm sorry, could you explain that please?
:)

I'll do that, thanks!

If you wouldn't mind, could I hear them? You could either post them here, or PM me. I'd appreciate hearing them, again, if you didn't mind. :)

Thanks. I'll probably do so sometime this week.

Thanks again guys. :thumbsup2
