I found a link to a board that recommended travelaxe. Well its a program that has to be downloaded and then it will search all of the major travel online sights like priceline, hotwire etc. etc. and come up with the absolute best rate for a hotel.

Well it actually came up with an AMAZING rate at Aladdin in Vegas but before I book I want to see if anyone else has heard of or used them.

It says that they are paid a commission from the hotel once you book with them. I just want to make sure there are no hidden fees etc. It says the price is with taxes etc.

You did better than me...I search it every day, but have found better prices at Vegas.com and travelocity (travelaxe does not include them or expedia). If the best price you found is travelaxe, I would definitely book it there. I found out about the site from Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas. We are going Nov 28-Dec3. Currently are booked at TI for $69/night. But I am still hoping for Venetian, Bellagio or Paris.

Hey Donna!!!!!

Wow thats a great rate at Treasure Island!!

We really want Bellagio or the Venetian too but I'm just not brave enough to wait for the last minute and try Priceline. We are going June 7-11 and then driving to Disneyland in Anahim for a week.

I think I may go ahead and book through them then because it is a really good price.

We were also looking at Excalibur since its cheap on just about every sight. I know its older but at least its in the "good" area of the strip.

Try calling the Aladdin directly (call their front desk, not an 800 number) and ask them what specials they are running. I have found that most hotels can beat the best internet deals if you call them directly. If they don't beat the deal, tell the about the price you found and ask them to try again. Every time I have tried this strategy, I have always come away with the best price I could find. I got the Las Vegas Hilton for $39 a night this way, and that included 2 passes to Star Trek the expereince which normally cost $25 per person. The lowest internet price I could find was $69 and that did not include the passes.

This works with any hotel, but again, you must call their front desk directly. If you use an 800 number, you usually end up with a clearing house run by the hotel chain. If you call the front desk, they usually transfer you to that hotels reservation manager, who is in a position to offer you a better deal.

Thanks Hound!!!

I actually found Luxor in the Pyramid for $99 online but I think I will definatly try a few front desks, especially for some of our top pics.

I would definitely go for Alladin over Excalibur. Is this a family trip? We are going without kids for our 25th anniversary. The pools are not an issue for us (too cold), but a nice romantic room is what we are looking for. Priceline scares me unless you are willing to accept whatever hotel you get...I am way too controlling/neurotic for that! LOL Try this website for Vegas discussions...I am addicted. http://p076.ezboard.com/flasvegastalkfrm1

I use travelaxe for comparison shopping but generally wind up buying someplace else. The links they give you are reputable places however and it is a good tool to see what is out there

I've used it before....but I work for the Unofficial Guide. Actually, we use Travelaxe quite a bit. If you decide to book through them, let us know your experience, please.

Wow Len! how cool is that! Working for the unofficial guide. If you have any words of wisdom about Vegas I would love to hear them!

Hey DopeRN,

My wife just got back from a "girl's weekend" at Bellagio. She liked Celine Dion and O, and hated the Lord of the Dance. I believe she said the new location for LotD looked a lot like the Muppet theater at the Studios....and not in a good way. So proud of her for making that comparison. :p

Bob just finished up some research for the Guide to Las Vegas. If you have a specific question, I'll be happy to run it by him.

Sincerely,

Len
