Has anyone heard when PO French Quarter will be re-opened?

Last year, we made a reservation here and had to be moved to another resort. We are going in April and I am wondering if they will open again so that we can try a few nights here.

Has anyone heard any words yet?

This may be a completely false RUMOR, but a CM told my cousin this story about PO in Dec. The CM said that with the opening of POP, WDW was short staffed for cleaning and maintenance. She said that until WDW was able to hire more workers, PO would remain closed. She didn't think it would open any time soon. Again, I have no idea if there is any merit to this story!

we stayed at POFQ the week of easter 2003...the resort closed for rehab the week following our stay...we were told by resort staff at that time that the resort would be closed for 2 years...This April will make 1 year...I would suggest calling CRO and maybe they can give you some idea on possible reopening...

When I made my res. yesterday, I asked the CM about POFQ and he stated that he believed it would reopen "within a few months." When I asked if he thought it would be open if we made another trip in the fall, he said "Oh, yeah, if everything goes as planned, no problem by fall."

Of course, every CM you talk with has a different take on it, but this is the latest, for what it's worth!

K&a&c's mom- I hope you're source was right!!! We really want to get back to POFQ for our visit in November! We've had reservations there for our past two trips and both times they closed it (right after 9/11 and this year!) Hoping it opens up soon!!!

I called yesterday and spoke with a CM from PO and they informed me that it may be open sometime in May although they haven't said anything officially yet. I asked what my chances were of getting into POFQ in July and she told me that I had a good chance of that. However, now my sister wants to go in March now so I won't get to stay there this year. Now I have to do some speedy planning for March -

When I made my res. for April, I did not ask for POFQ rates, but during our long conversation I asked about it. He seemed to think within the next 2-3 months, I should have asked about our April trip, but my daughter really wants to go back to AKL.

tink2 - I know what you mean - although I haven't actually had res. and had to switch (what a bummer!), every time I have decided we would like to try POFQ it has been closed! Maybe this year it will reopen and stay that way long enough for us to visit!

I heard they are redoing the rooms, what about the food court? I couldn't remember if they had done anything in there recently.

Any chance of them adding another pool? Is there any room to put in a quiet pool??

That is pretty much the main reason we never wanted to stay at PO. Although the main pool looks fun, we always want a quiet place to relax. Also a reason we probably won't return to AKL too soon. So we like to stick with CBR or CSR.

But for quiet pools...Riverside has great ones, so you're not only stuck with CBR or CSR.

right.....and we have stayed at POR, but that resort is also looking pretty shabby. And slated for the rehab once POFQ reopens.

when we stayed at POFQ over easter there was visible maintenance issues everywhere in the resort. I would assume because it was the week before the resort was to close for rehab. I'm sure the foodcourt was scheduled to be part of the rehab as well...there were floor tiles broken and missing all over the floor, broken doors, etc....
I don't think there were plans for a quiet pool in the rehab....
