Has anyone had their Escape Wedding Moved Inside due to weather?

I was wondering if anyone has had a planned outside Escape wedding such as the Sea Breeze Pointe (or other outside locations) and then had bad weather. I was wondering where they move you for the ceremony and what it looks like. It seems everyone on here was blessed with great weather, but I lived in Florida for a little while and it rained A LOT when I was there. I am just paranoid and wondering what would happen IF it got moved.

Thanks!!!

Do a lot of brides get rained out?

If you have a 2.30 ceremony and it's raining at 2.15 do you get rescheduled immediately for example, or do they wait of until 2.45 and see if the weather eases?

I remember one girl on these boards, back from when I was married - 3 years ago! - their wedding was supposed to be at Sunset Pointe but it rained and they got moved to the WP. I asked my WC since Sunrise Terrace is outside and only partially covered and all she'd say is "we'll have a back-up" but I never learned where that might be.

This is why I chose the Grand Floridian Beach - Technically I'm booking the WP, but not really using it. But since I'm booking it, it's my guaranteed back-up location. I had to really take into consideration that it might rain since I'm planning for an August wedding. I really have my heart set on the Beach, but I'd rather have the WP, then have a ballroom.

Our Vow Renewal last year was supposed to be at Sunset Pointe. The location was very important to us. We wanted a casual, "barefoot" ceremony. We and our guests were wearing beach-y clothing. I even had orchid leis flown in from Hawaii for us and our guests.

I picked a 5:00 ceremony because that would be around sunset (it was January) and I envisioned these great sunset pictures of us on the beach with the Castle in the background.

Well, it rained. Disney moved us to the Wedding Pavilion with about 30 minutes' notice. We were not offered any choice. I decided to stay calm, accept the change and not argue on our special day. I knew they were trying to do us a favor by "upgrading" us to the WP, though apparently there's an indoor area at the Poly that would have fit our "theme" better.

I realize it's not Disney's fault that it rained. Problem was, the Wedding Pavilion didn't suit our personalities, our clothing, the Polynesian theme we wanted, etc. We chose the beach for a reason!

Sadly, I hate our pictures from our Vow Renewal. They look ridiculous and I will never display them or even look at them again. I am so glad it wasn't my actual wedding.

Sorry to be a downer, but every time I think about our Vow Renewal it just depresses me. Oddly, it has bothered me more and more as time has gone on!

My advice: be prepared for anything. Don't base your clothing, theming, etc. on an outdoor location.

But in such short notice, i doubt they had the WP decorated, and with an escape wedding w/ hardly any guests, i dont think it would suit us either. atleast it was a free upgrade.

Hi! I was married 3 years ago...I lurk a lot now but rarely have any wedding related things to help with anymore.

BUT this is my topic! People always seem to remember me as the bride who got rained on!

I was due to get married at 1pm at Sea Breeze Point. Due to thunder and lightening and light rain we were moved to the Attic!! It was beautiful and more than I could ever want!!! I was happy to see the lightening/thunder!!

PS They would have done it outside fast but Reverend Day didn't want to be out in that weather...Thank you Rev. Jack!!!!!

I was married at Sunset Point this past January. On that particular day, it was about 35-40 degrees and 20+ mph wind gusts. It was so cold that the day before, we were wearing long pants, coats, gloves, hats!

Our wedding coordinator offered several times to move us to another location. When I asked where it would be, all I was told was a 'convention hall' and that they would bring in plants to try to make it look nice. I stuck to my guns and wouldn't let them move us. She was very understanding, and all the disney staff just bundled up and beared with us. The wedding was pretty quick, and we just posed for the cake cutting, because it was too cold to actually sit out and eat cake.
