Has anyone had any luck getting a non-activated Disney GC from target activated?

I have purchased a LOT of $50 and $100 gift cards from Target trying to save up for our trip. We got to Disneyland and tried to use one to purchase a sweatshirt and it wasn't even coming up as being purchased...Has anyone had any luck getting Target to fix that or am I out $50? I have NO Idea what order I purchased this particular card in since they all look exactly the same :(

I haven't tried, but I'm guessing you would need your original receipt which should state the card number on it to prove you purchased it.

I've had trouble trying to buy Disney gift cards at Sam's club before. When buying at the register I want to say some got activated and some didn't so the cashier supervisor re rang them and said they may have been (already activated) took them to the side and grabbed me new ones then she said it happens all the time.

When I got home I made sure all had a balance.

I haven't had this happen, but I saved the instructions someone posted a while ago just in case. They said to call the Target Corporate Gift Card line at 800-544-3875. They said you need your Target order number ready, along with the 24 digit gift card number. The problem you'll have is that you're not sure which order it came from. I don't know if it's possible to just give them any order number since it never seems like the gift card number appears on any of the order details or shipping info, but it may be tied to a particular order in their system. After hearing from a number of people with this problem, I've started verifying the balance on each of the cards I receive so that I can deal with it as soon as I can and I'm not faced with an awkward situation when I try to redeem the gift card at Disney.

Good luck with this, I hope it helps.

I should add that I assumed you ordered these online. If you purchased in the store, you should be able to match up the gift card number with your receipt. If you can do that, I'd follow the advice of the PP to take it back to to the store and see if they can activate the card, or just give you a new one.

Yes they were all ordered online. I was able to get that one fixed this morning and started trying to verify the rest of them and found 4 more that aren't activated. The ding dong I'm on the phone with now is refusing to put me through to someone higher. That's $200 in gift cards ($250) out of $1200 that weren't activated. This is insane.

How frustrating for you. But since you did get the one fixed this morning, I sure hope that they can fix the rest. I have read about others having the same issue. I check all of mine as soon as they come in now, but even if I found one that wasn't activated at home I am sure it would be a hassle to get it fixed.

@todzwife I am so sorry you're going through this! The same thing happened to me recently - about $200 not activated as well. I ended up calling multiple times throughout the day to get it solved. On the 4th call, really late in the evening, I got another employee who said that they couldn't help and a manager wouldn't be able to either. I asked if I could speak to the manager about the fact that I've called over 4 times with no resolution and wasted hours trying to get through to good customer service reps. Once I got on the line I told them what the real issue was and everything got fixed. Hopefully you don't have to spend hours on this like I did, good luck!

I had this happen to me in Jan. 2015 and posted my experience on another thread to which I am copying below. Good Luck!

I posted the below on another thread this week after I had 5 inactive Disney GCs from Target. Thanks to someone posting the direct phone number to the Gift Card specialists, I was able to get this worked out really quickly!!

***********************************

I just received some Disney GCs that I ordered from Target as well and half were inactivated. I saw on the Disney GC Deals thread on this board that someone posted a phone number, which I called today. I was on the phone for about 10 minutes, and the rep. took the GC numbers down, said she would call Disney, and get back to me by the end of the day today. I will update this response once that does (hopefully) happen.

Target Corporate Gift Card Line: (800) 544-3875 - spoke to a real friendly woman, sounded like she was located in the U.S., and knew exactly what the problem was.

Have your Target order number ready, along with the 24 digit gift card number. Mine were located on the back of the card, but the rep. also said it could be printed on the cardboard backing, so keep that too!

ETA1: 10 minutes after I got off my first call, the rep. called me back saying she got all but one activated herself. The last one she needed to take the 16-digit GC number and call Disney to get it worked out. So far, relatively painless to get it resolved (though I wish I just got them all activated originally).

ETA2: Another 20 minutes and all GCs were activated. Again, this was rather painless, and I didn't have to talk to multiple people who didn't understand what I was talking about, or have to go through Target's "normal" customer service.

Ah, so this was from you. I couldn't remember who posted it originally but it was good information so I saved it in a Word file in case it ever happened to me. Thank you!!

As soon as I get my cards I check them and add them to my Disney gift card account...sorry you are having to deal with while on vacation though. Hope they resolve them for you.

It took about an hour to get to the right person who took my phone number and called me back once she was able to get through to Disney and get them activated. The 4 that weren't were sequential- so I'm guessing they were all from the same order. Lesson learned. Check them IMMEDIATELY.

Same thing just happened here. I ordered 5 Disney gift cards from Target.com and turns out 2 are inactive. Ugh. Will try the above # on Monday. Thanks for sharing!

I was curious so I just checked my Target account to see if the last 4 digits of the gift card are listed online with the order info. I haven't bought Disney online, but I don't see that for the others, unfortunately. Then I checked the email receipt and it wasn't there either. I don't have the packing slips anymore. One thing you can do in addition to checking right away, is forward the email order confirmation back to yourself with the last 4 digits of all of your gift cards so if you need to find the other number again in the future you can.
