I have lots of ???

if any has any 1st hand/2nd hand experience with Parvo 19/Fifth's disease.

Watch it it is contagious! My sister and I passed it back and forth a couple of times before we finally got rid of it as kids. I don't remember much about it except for the rash.

What kind of questions do you have?

Interestingly, someone posted asking about Parvovirus 19 on the Family Board recently.

At a point in the past, I was a school nurse and saw several kids with Parvovirus 19 (also called Fifth Disease). The most obvious sign of the illness is a particular type of rash causing red cheeks that look like the person was slapped on the cheeks. There is also a rash that looks sort of lacy and can be itchy. Once the rash has appeared, the person can no longer pass the infection to others. The rash can come and go for several weeks - I noticed kid's rash would often show up again after they had been outside for recess.
Children usually are not very ill. Adults are more likely to be more ill and often have joint pains/aches.

Here is some good information from the Centers for Disease Control website:

Mayo Clinic also has good information (with a good picture of the cheek appearance).

Although it may have seemed like you passed it back and forth several times, it was really the same infection. The rash tends to come and go, so people may think they have had it more than once.
