I just got my cabin assignment ,oceanview(ha!) deck one. Has anyone ever had a deck 1 cabin? I see it isn't on the "noisy cabin " list but that it doesn't have a real porthole. I'm not happy with this cabin assignment but for what I paid for it, I"m not allowed to complain. Once I get over my dissapointment, I know I'll get excited about the cruise again. Thanks!

We stayed in room 1078 last June. The only thing I didn't like was you had to climb the stairs to deck two to use the evelators. Other than that it was fine. We have a cat. 11 booked for Sept. 28th.

I didn't realize you had to take the stairs to get to the elevator. Thanks for that information. I appreciate it.

DisneyJumper, could you explain about needing to take the stairs to Level 2 to use the elevators? That was not my experience with Level 1. The elevators were as accessible as the stairs were.

I stayed on deck 1 on the wonder and I’ll be on deck 1 again the end of August on the Magic. I needed to get connecting rooms and this was the only deck available in Cat 9. I didn’t have a problem on deck 1 - it was quiet and there are not a lot of people on the deck. From what I remember not all the elevators go to deck 1 but the mid-ship elevators do.

I just received my docs and I have 1047 and 1049 on the 08/02 Western and I looked at the Disney website and the elevators are close to my rooms. I hope I don't need to take steps.

Dave_from_Marietta I had to look at the deck plans but now I remember the problem I had. If we were at the Aft evelators going to the first floor we had to get off on deck 2 and go to the Midship evelators to get to the first floor.

That makes more sense, DisneyJumper. That's true, you can only reach the staterooms on Deck 1 via the Forward and Midships stairs/elevators, but not from the Aft stairs/elevators.

We're in cabin 1044. I booked it on a guarantee so I can't complain. If you have to use stairs to get to the elevator, it would be tough on someone with leg problems. They really should let people know that before they assign them that floor. I thought I knew everything about Disney but I guess I was wrong. There also aren't the big picture windows on that floor. I am trying to look at the bright side. The ride is usually better lower in a ship, it should be quieter in the hallways and I should lose lots of weight with all the stairs I have to climb!! It's better than not going at all!

Ashking,

There are elevators down there but apparently some don't go all the way down. You have to get off one elevator and get on another one. I just double checked in the book and it does show elevators down there.

martinez, Thanks for the information. I appreciate you taking the time to look that up for me.

We stayed in 1044, 1046, 1048, 1050 and 1052 as a large group last Feb. We loved Deck1. We always took the elevator from Deck 1 and did not have a problem. You soon get used to the smaller portholes...it was not that big a deal.

The best thing about Deck 1 is that you are so close to the Atrium with the restaurants, clubs, Guest Service, photo ops, character meet and greets, etc. We found it to be much more convenient than the upper decks.

We also loved the fact that when we were disembarking at the ports all we had to do was walk down the hall....also when returning from port we just walked past the throngs of people waiting for the elevators and were back at our cabin in no time. At all ports you get on/off on Deck1 except for Port Canaveral where you get on/off on Deck 3.

On CC day there is usually a line on the stairs at least 3 or 4 decks long of people waiting to disembark...all you have to do is walk down the hall.

mmouse37, Thank you so much for your comments. You make me feel a lot better. I just got my docs today and broke the news to my husband. He said, "as long as room service comes down there, he doesn't care". Good point! We are going to have a great time. Thanks again.Ashley
