Has anyone gotten married during the marathon?

My fiance and I are planning to tie the knot during the 2011 marathon. I'm not sure if we should talk to Disney Weddings about it or just do it. Can they stop us? I've filled out two inquiry forms for Disney Weddings and a month later haven't received anything in the mail or via email. I also requested a phone call - nothing! I'm really surprised...

I think we'll just book a dinner at one of the restaurants if Disney doesn't want to sell us a reception. Great customer service!

Hi there!!!

I am really shocked no one has called you back, they are really good with getting back to you within days.

About getting married during the actual marathon, I am not 100% sure but I don't think they will do it. The marathons are held inside the theme parks and getting married at the theme parks is an ordeal and not very common.

Are you actually running the marathon? If you are planning on doing that and want to get married while running it, I don't see why not, as long as you have someone to marry you and who is willing to run with you, I can't see how DFTW would even need to know.

There are many brides on this board including myself who are getting married that weekend but at the Pavilion or the other Disney Wedding locations.

I know that hotels and resturants are getting sold out and full fast because of the marathon, so I would make a dinner reservation at a nice place soon..

Best of luck!!!

Our planner actually told us during our PS that they won't do any weddings on the Saturday for the marathon. We are getting married Friday the 7th and she said that there are so many road blocks on Saturday that it's too hard for them to accommodate the wedding and getting guests where they need to be!

It is very surprising that no one has called you back yet! They are usually very quick to return phone calls. Maybe try calling again and let the person you speak to know that you have called once and didn't get an answer?

HTH and best of luck!!

Have you just requested information from DFTW? Or have you asked that someone calls you?

Just asking because I requested info frmo DFTW and then forgot about it, suddenly I received a planning DVD in the mail from them, and I'm pretty sure other brides have experienced the same thing. It can take months to receive that DVD. :confused3

I would suggest calling them yourself to try and talk to someone. The enquiry forms don't seem to get a response all that fast.
