Has anyone flown Martinair from Amsterdam to Orlando?

i think that is the allowance on all airlines crossing the atlantic now...
they make all sorts of claims as to why they lowered the baggage allowance (security, union issues due to heavy bags), but i'm sure it all has to do with the price of oil and how much it costs the airlines to carry all that luggage for free.....you can still carry a lot of weight, you just have to pay for it now...

Don't you mean 32 KG?
Virgin's econ and PE states:
"Two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 32kg (70lbs). When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not exceed 158cm (62in)."

I can echo Ghost here, done it twice: never again.

Nothing wrong with the planes or the service but both times on the way back, leaving at 23.00 or so the plane was full of people continuing their holiday on the plane, lots of drinking and walking about to talk with friends (who they met in the same hotel etc.), very loud!
On the flight back I like peace & quiet as I usually only have a day to get back to normal before starting work again.

And also the seatback tv's and better meals (+ frequent flyer miles: 2 trips and I get an upgrade!!) are reasons for us to book a regular airline, for us it's United. Better departure times also help!

Virgin still allows 32 kg for economy class passengers?....that's what everyone used to allow, but many have lowered it to 23 kg......Continental lowered it a while ago and the other airlines that serve the market i'm in all lowered theirs as well....

That's a big difference 23 vs. 32...
I fly business class, so the allowance is higher (32kg)....... i can't imagine trying to keep my suitcases within that 23 kg limit....

Continental charges the following for overweight bags:
Economy Class
Checked baggage over 50 lbs (23 kg) and not exceeding 70 lbs (32 kg) will be charged at the rate of $25.00 per piece.

Checked baggage over 70 lbs (32 kg) and not exceeding 100 lbs (45 kg) will be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece.

OnePass Elite Members, First Class and BusinessFirst
Checked baggage over 70 lbs (32 kg) and not exceeding 100 lbs (45 kg) will be charged at the rate of $50.00 per piece
