i was wondering if you could take buggies and car seats without them being included in your luggage allowance. I think i've seen it somewhere that buggies can be taken without being included but wondered about the car seats.

If we book with them we are going to be restricted to the 20kg luggage allowance as we won't be upgrading 1) because we would rather spend the £450 upgrade cost on a 3rd week and 2) because they won't let you upgrade on 3 week holidays anymore, so we don't want to be using up half our allowance with the buggies and car seats.

Thanks

sorry i cant help but i would also be intested to know this as i was hoping to take our car seat, i dont fancy using one from the car hire company! We are flying with first choice in october :thumbsup2

thanks for that, i did look on the FC website but didn't come acrss that page. I wouldn't want to use the car seat on the actual plane though, but like you take it for use in the hire car, byt the time we go next year both of mine will be in high back boosters anyway so at least they are failry light to carry if they do weigh them, alternatively as we are planning on staying onsite then i might just get the hire car for the last 2 weeks so we could get a taxi to walmart and buy a couple of cheap ones whilst out there then just leave them there

i was curious so i gave them a ring, if you choose to bring a car seat it must count towards your baggage allowance. Luckily enough we have upgraded to premium so we have 30kgs but what a nightmare if you have more than one child who needs a car seat! Personally i would never use a car seat without knowing the history, especially when i have to pay a fortune for hiring it!
Walmart do really cheap car seats, would work out cheaper than hiring one!

Thats not good, we have 2 children needing car seats and like you wouldn't want to use or pay for the car hire ones. DS will only need a booster seat which are lightweight enough, but as DD will still be under 4 she needs a car seat with a full harness, might have to look for a nice lightweight cheap one from argos or something and just leave it there if need be, or as you say buy one from walmart. I would upgrade but they don't allow you to on 3 week holidays anymore, which is also not good

Thanks for making the call

Just remember that if you pay for a seat for your child, they are entitled to their own baggage allowance ie 20kg again. I flew with just my daughter this year, and they basically combined our allowance - one case was about 25kg, and one only about 10kg, but that was no problem. Hope that helps.
