got on a ride alone?

My family and I have an upcoming trip at the end of September. I would really like to get on RNR this trip because we won't be going back for a few years. The only thing is my DH does not like looping rollercoasters and my DD8 is too scared to ride and in no way would I pressure her to. The only person that is more than willing is my DS5 but he is too young and does not meet the height requirement anyway sooo, it ain't gonna happen with him. I am actually contemplating on going on by myself but I think it would be so much better to experience it with someone.

Give me your opinions......tell me what would you do?

As I have only been able to get my entire family to WDW once, and one other time with my DD, Natalie, and my having been there on 14 other solo trips, the answer is yes, LOL. But seems I am always chatting with someone, either strangers o other DIS'ers I might be with.

GO! I had to go on Mission:Space by myself because my DBf was a chicken and my dd was too young. RnR is not too be missed if you enjoy thrill rides. Who knows....Maybe your excitement when you get off will get your dh to ride.

My FH gets sick on anything that has a big drop in it, so I plan on riding most of the coasters by myself when we go on our honeymoon next year. I'm not missing out on my favorite rides! Thankfully he goes on Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Tower of Terror at least. (Don't ask me how he can go on ToT when he gets sick on other drops, 'cause I don't know!)

While at WDW this past March for my sister's cheer competion, I would break away and head off to the parks alone. I rode the rides alone, too. It was pretty fun!!

Yes, dh and I always do the child swap so that we can get a chance to ride RnRC, etc. It is more fun to ride with someone else but when you go with little ones you do what you have to do if you want to experience the ride. I have fun on the rides just the same and I don't end up leaving wishing I'd gone ahead and ridden it. When we go in a week or so we're going to child swap for several rides so that dh and I can get a chance to do them. I say go for it and have fun!

Since your DH won't ride it with you, you should make him stand out in front of the ride with a sign that reads "Please ride this ride with my wife because I'm chicken and she doesn't want to ride alone!"

You may even get off the ride faster, b/c sometimes they need single riders to fill in spots. Test Track even has a single riders line.

I ride alone all the time. No one in my family will go on coasters or other thrill rides. I usually end up with very friendly people. A lot of time you end up in a car with other single riders. Actually, sometimes on some rides you hear them calling for single riders to come to the front because there is only one seat left. I say go for it.

If you both want to ride the ride, child swap works really well. You both get a fast pass (if it has one) and then when you go for your fast pass time, tell the CM that you need to child swap. One of you goes on while the other stays with the kids and when they get off, you get right on into the ride (you may have to wait a few minutes) and take your turn. I'm sure someone else can explain it better than I can but it is just so nice to have.

We child swap all the time. You just tell the CM at the entrance that you want to child swap (or kid switch, or whatever you want to call it) and he or she will tell you where to have the second rider wait with the kids. At RnR, they just give you an extra ticket for the fastpass line, and at other rides they have a special waiting area at the ride exit where the second rider waits with the kids and then goes right to the ride loading area when the first rider gets off. Mission: Space even has a playground at the exit so the kids won't get ansty while they wait, as does Splash Mountain.

Star Tours has the strangest system: first rider goes on the ride, and second rider and kids wait on a bench in the loading area. Then the second rider carries the kids through the actual ride vehicle and hands them off to the first rider as he/she exits the ride. Then first rider waits on another bench on the exit side.

Since they are all different, just ask the CM at the entrance. They take good care of you. Also, we try to get all of our "swapping" rides out of the way in the first hour of the day, so that the kids know that once they wait for us a couple times that's it for the rest of the day and everything else will be for everybody.

Riding alone doesn't bother me at all, unless it is on a ride that requires you to actually be touching or pressing against a stranger. I was not too happy to be on an outside seat on the Primeval Whirl ride at AK. That thing spins you around so much that it's kid of uncomfortable being squished (and squishing) sweaty strangers.

I went on Space Mountain alone. A cast member joined me in the queue and kept me company When I reached the end of the queue, I was given the choice of what seat I wanted to go in. Either the "front seat or the wild seat?" I chose the front seat because I had no idea what the "wild seat" was! I do enjoy rides more with my family, but sometimes you gotta do stuff on your own when other people don't want to ride.

My DH does not want to ride!! I want to thank you for your views and help. I wonder how my DH is going to react when I tell him that I want to get on RNRc by myself. He knows I am not afraid of looping rollercoasters but his thing is "if we can't get on it together, we ain't getting on it at all!"

definitely, heck lots of folks do solo trips! part of the fun for me is sharing the magic with someone, so I don't like going alone, but I have before. I actually had a great time (it was just one day squeezed in during a business trip). I did get some strange looks when I was by myself waiting in a long line for soarin when everyone else was large families/groups chatting it up, but who cares.
