I just signed up to do this walk in Philadelphia Oct. 5-7! I am excited, nervous and a bit overwhelmed right now about the task ahead - training, fundraising, etc. Have any of you ever walked in the 3-Day, or crewed the 3-Day? Or a similar charity walk? Can you share your experience, knowledge, advice????

I am walking with a dear friend in memory of our mutual friend (her best friend since childhood :sad1: ) who passed away from breast cancer on December 13th. She was 36, and left behind a 4 month old baby (taken at 29 weeks because they found that her cancer had returned). Sending a card or flowers just didn't feel like it was enough this time. Not when I look at pictures of that sweet little baby who will never know her mother. So we are going to walk, and do all that we can to raise money to fight it!

Have any of you ever done this?? Tell me all you know! THANKS!!!!

When you findout more info can you let me know? Maybe I can walk too. I live close to philly.

Hi PaulaSue,

You can go to www.the3day.org for more information on the walk. I'm just looking for some personal experiences - i.e. How'd they do it?!? :thumbsup2 I'll keep looking and maybe someone will see this who has been involved in the walk in the past. Take a look at the website for more info - it really looks like an overall amazing experience, and a wonderful way to raise awareness and some $$$!

Yep, I've walked one and crewed one. One thing though, it's no longer the "Avon" 3 Day. They parted ways with the original organizers and have their own 2 day event now.

It is a FABULOUS way to spend a weekend!

I have never done this but I am doing it for the first time this year.
We are doing the Chicago walk at the end of May, and so far we have a team of 8.
One person on our team has done it before. It's kind of funny, because some of the same tips she gave were ones I see on this board for walking (mole skin, particular socks etc).

Good luck with your walk. It's a great way to honor the memory of your friend!

HA! I just realized this post was from 2007!!!
How did your walk go???
