We have vacationed in Myrtle beach every year for the last 7 years. We have stayed at the Crown Reef every year, but it seems to be going downhill a little more every time we go back. The pool is always clean and beautiful, but there are always at least one or two hot tubs that are broken or dirty. The last two times we were there only one elevator worked in each building. (There are 3 towers, each with two elevators and over 10 floors so you know we waited a long time for the elevators!) The rooms are usually pretty clean but worn looking. The Treasure Chest restaurant on the Lobby floor is an excellent value for families. I think for about $2.00 each you get eggs, bacon or sausage and toast and grits at breakfast. At lunch for the same price you get 2 hot dogs or 2 grilled cheese (or one of each) a drink and a small ice cream. Coffee is $.05 in the free travel mug you receive when you check in. They also have a great kids program where the kids can make crafts, play games, or hunt for seashells with the college age program directors. Some activities have a small fee. Myrtle Beach is our favorite place to go as a family and we sure will miss going this year.
If your are looking for a great restaurant go to Murrell's Inlet and eat at Flo's Place. It is one of those little hole in the wall places, but if you love seafood it is the best place to eat. The kids will get Mardi Gras beads and can have chocolate gators for dessert.
Enjoy!
