My husbands 50th birthday is coming up and I've been racking my brain of what to do. We recently moved from NH to FL and we only know a handful of people so no big blowout party.

He's always wanted to skydive so I was thinking of surprising him with that. Has anyone ever done it? Was it fun?

Still trying to think of other ideas too.

I did it when I was around 22 with boyfriend at the time (bought it for him as a birthday gift). It was pretty intense, but I had a great time! Be sure to buy the video, it was well worth it! I do remember my ears popping for a day or two afterwards...

My DH's grandmother went tandem skydiving on her 80th birthday and DH and I joined her. It was lots of fun. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The only drawback is that it is extremely expensive so it has to stay a rare treat rather than a frequent passtime. My kids think it sounds like fun, so that may be their birthday present when they get old enough. DD(4) will be parasailing with me on our Disney trip next year and I foresee one angry DS if he sees it because he will only be 3 and cannot do it, too.

Doesn't appeal to me in the least... but DD went for her 18th B-day and she loved it. She said she was a bit concerned about being strapped so closely to the instructor, but also said it turned out to be a non issue. And when I watched the video of her fumbling around trying to find the rip cord, I was certainly glad he was up there with her.

Since it's something he has exprssed an interest in, I think it sounds like a GREAT b-day gift.

I did a tandem skydive for my 25th birthday and LOVED every second of it!!!! My instructor pulled the ripcord so I had no worries about that. I just had to sit back and enjoy the ride! Once the parachute was opened, he let me steer it until we were a couple of hundred feet above the landing zone. Then he took over and brought us in for a landing. The entire experience was intense and something I will never forget! If your hubby is interested in doing a jump...I think that would make a great gift! Try to choose a location that would have amazing scenery. Amazing scenery really adds to the experience.

I went in september with a bunch of friends and it was amazing- I got great pictures and video--i cant wait to go again!
