Did you like summer bay? Was it walking distance to resteraunts
? Did you use the shuttle? :rotfl:

several people who post here have stayed at Summer Bay.

It is not near the nicer restuarant in Kissimmee or Orlando - it is next door to Orange Lake.

there is a MacDonalds across the street.

so I would definitely use the shuttle.

although you would be better off getting a rental car.

There is a shopping center right next door you can walk to that has a pizza place in it but other than that you need to drive to the restaurants down 192.

We had our car so we didn`t use the shuttles. You really need a car if you stay at summer bay.

But, it was beautiful and the kids LOVED the playground pool they had!

We stayed at Summer Bay last Nov. The unit was nice, but we just did not care for it. We also did not like the location. It was farther away from DW than we are used to. We did leave two days early.

Again there were no real complaints, we just didn't care for it.

My parents just back from Summer Bay. They said it was a nice resort. They said it's an RCI Gold Crown Resort also, so they have standards they have to keep up. The area it's in doesn't have lots of places to eat close, but not a long drive either.

is there more than one "part" to Summer Bay? We are staying in a condo-, but I have read here about a hotel? Anyone know?

the hotel is across US 192 - and it does not get good reviews. there is also the houses part.

the Hotel next to it - Holiday Inn Express gets much better reviews.

Within the resort there are the villas , the condos and the houses. The villas are on the right when you drive into the resort and i believe the condos were on the left? Not positive though because we stayed in the villas. The houses are a littel farther back on the left side of the resort.

...from our visit in Oct 2004: We stayed in a brand new unit in Summer Bay in the back, right across from the welcome center and largest pool...it was a 2 bed 2 bath, jacuzzi, kitchen, w/d, etc...it was decorated in Tuscany/Meditteranean-type furnishings, which was gorgeous. We have stayed in many nice places: Marriott Grande Vista, Cypress Harbour, on-site, etc., and this place (in terms of decor) was the BEST. Beautiful. The drive was not bad, if you go the back way (and I'm geographically impaired, so I would suggest doing a search for the best route, or calling the front desk)....In terms of amenities and price (the price we got was sooooo cheap thru SkyAuction), this place cannot be beaten. The pools were both good, and there was live entertainment and children's activities by the pool, which we enjoyed on our non-park day. We, of course, were only in our unit, but it was the bomb dot com....don't know what the other, more dated units are like, though. Hope this helps...I don't remember our room number, but it was literally across the street from the place where you check in. Awesome locale, also. :flower:
