Has anyone ever signed up for Magical Express and then not taken it?

Has anyone signed up for ME and then gotten a great rate on a rental? Did you cancel the ME? Did you keep the luggage tags? Did you use them?

If anyone used the DME tags but then didn't ride the DME bus, they wouldn't have easy access to their luggage. It would not be transported to their resort, they'd probably have to find a way back to the airport to get it.

As to simply not using DME and not canceling the reservation, it's rude to not cancel but I can't imagine there are any ill-effects of doing so.

I have a question.....I am set up for ME and plan on using it. However, my dh would really like to have a car for the 1st half on our trip. We are staying at the campgrounds for 3 nights and then switching to BWV. We like to have a car at the campground due to it's size...plus it is nice to have a car to go to the grocery store and the switch resorts.

So....if we rent a car at the airport I would still take ME with the kids(they think it's fun!) and dh can grab the car and meet us at the resort. I am assuming that even though dh does not use ME I can still do so and they will take our luggage. sound like a good idea?

We did the exact same thing this past November. It was great, we didn't have to deal with luggage and we arrived at the resort at the exact same time.

great! I am thinking that is it going to save us $$$ on the car rental as well. We usually get a minivan because we need the room obviously! However, since Disney is going to transport out luggage we can just get a mid size! :cool1:

It turns out that we are not using DME after all, so I was reading in the booklet that they sent us, and it says that if you choose not to use their service, simply don't put the luggage tags on your luggage.

That is correct. There is no need to cancel just do not use the ME tags.

If you do this ( I'm thinking of doing same thing ) don't use the DME tags with DH's name on them as he is not getting on the bus and his tags won't be transfered .Make sure you use the kids tags and yours even on DH's bags and you won't have any problem.

As a side note if DH wants to ride the bus you can a car on-sight and across from DTD if you wanted to as well.

Why would they not transfer dh's bags? He does not have to be standing with me at the ME check in line..I just have to provide ME with our baggage tags from the departing airport.....correct?

Kim

Yes you are right. Since when you get to the DME welcome desk they actually ask that only one person per party get into the line to check-in, your dh's not being there should pose no problem. I think someone mentioned, on another thread, that if they had 3 people booked for DME but had 7 pieces of luggage, would DME take the 7th piece. Yes, they have no way to know if you have 'paid' extra for that extra piece at the airport when you checked your bags. So...I can't see why your dh not being in the line and then not getting on the bus would pose a problem.

If you are using the Yellow DME tags then
No when you check in with ME at desk they ask who's boarding and when you get to the bus they barcode scan you on the bus .

My understanding is if you don't get barcoded onto the bus your bags ( with same barcode ) can't be transported and could be left in limbo.

Thats why they give you 2 tags for each guest on the ressie .They will have the main name of Ressie then secondary name for the person and thats the one that needs to get on the bus for those bags to be transported.

Now if you are just using your Airline baggage claim tickets when you check into DME then I'm not sure but my understanding is they can't transport bags for people not on one of their buses.

I would check with the desk before he leaves the airport if this is the case and his name is on the bags. They pull these off the carosel (with yellow DME tag they get pulled in back before carosel )and they might be looking at names as well as on the tag.

Just called ME and was told that as long as I check in and supply ME with all the baggage claim tickets that are given to me at the airport then ME will deliver all bags...dh does not have to be on the bus.

I just used ME in December I do not remember being barcoded at the bus?

Thats great we used it in Oct and the driver scanned our tickets in (barcoded) for each of us .Maybe they are changing things as they see them causing concerns for guest .So this is a good thing.

Actually, I am not saying it did not happen...just do not remember! :rotfl: Can anyone verify if they do this?

Kim

When we used DME in October, they did barcode scan our vouchers/tickets as we got on the bus. I don't know if it has changed since then or not.
