Has anyone ever made you feel like a bad parent?Response pg 2

Are there others parents you can ask about summer school. Last summer we got a letter from ds school suggesting he need remedial summer school. He was on the honor roll every six weeks and has scored well on his I-STEP test. I didn't say anything to him about it and just let it drop. On monday when he went back to school, it was the hot topic of the day. It seems that every 7th grader got one. His homeroom teacher explained to them that every 7th grader got one, and they were paid for each student that attended. I would try and find out if this were the case and maybe just hire a tutor for the summer if you feel she needs extra help.

And I just wanted to add that you are not a bad parent. If you were a bad parent, you wouldn't be trying to find answers to your questions.

I think my mom has tried before. But, I dont let it get to me..so it doesn't work.

I hate the SOL's. They drive me absolutely nuts. Last year my daughter was on the A/B Honor Roll. And she failed one of the SOL tests. Essentially the school told me that grades do NOT matter, only how they perform on the SOL.

Your not a bad parent and your daughter is not stupid. Some people just don't test well. And not everyone learns the same way. I am sorry your feeling like this.

To the person who felt the need to berate me by PM. I tried to reply but you mailbox is full. You answered my question about if people try to make you feel like a bad parent. You certainly tried, but it didnt work. I feel that anything I said to you in response to being a stay at home mom vs a working mom would be a constant argument and I dont wish to do that. Best wishes to you and your family and you can be secure in the knowledge that my children will always come first...if they didnt I wouldnt have been so upset.

Cindy and don't waste your time on the person who PM'd you. I think many of us have felt the way you are feeling right now. I've been in the same situation and I don't feel the school's take into consideration the working parent and the dilemma we are in at times. Some of us HAVE to work. It's very overwhelming at times but, it helps to know we aren't alone and others are facing the same trials. Hang in there and I hope things work out for the best for you and your family.
