Just put a deposit down on an 4/22/04 cruise...CAT 4 Family Stateroom 8556...anyone know about this room?

Well, I stayed in 8560, just a couple doors down, and my room had the pull down bed. I think ALL the cat 4's have a pull down bed, actually 2 pull downs - one that comes out of the ceiling above the sofa, and one that comes out of the wall near the verandah.

We stayed in that room last August (2002). It has a bed that pulls down over the sofa but to be honest I don't know if it has a fifth bed because we only needed to sleep 4. Be prepared- you are under the ping pong tables!

We stayed in 8550 and like the last poster beware...it is NOISY with kids running and the sail away party and music and did I mention kids running??? :( Our cabin just a few doors down had a queen size bed, a sofa that made into a twin bed, a pull down bunk over the sofa that made into a twin bed and a murphy bed right next to the door out to the balcony that was up all day long but made up at night for our 3 year old. It was ok...but if the bed was down we couldnt get out to the balcony in the morning to sit while the kids slept. The bunk colapsed into the ceiling and the sofa was just that a sofa during the day and then everything was changed at night. I dont think I would ever consider staying in one of the rooms on deck 8 again mostly because of the noise we encountered. Maybe we had a bad experience or maybe we are wussies but it was pretty annoying some nights. We booked again for May and got 2 connecting Cat 8 cabins with windows instead of booking the family stateroom mostly for cost but some for the noise factor of the pool deck above our head.

Can you change rooms after you have already put your deposit down? I am going to look at one deck down... there are no family staterooms there... though we are only 4 and probably could get by with a regular stateroom...

It shouldnt be a problem at all to switch rooms after making a deposit. Generally they can just change the room number but if not they can always cancel the existing reservation and start over...at least that has been our experience.

I just called our TA and she quoted me about $400.00 less to change to CAT 5 Deck 7 room...I think I might go for it...
