Has anyone ever had or made a Turducken?

It's when you roast a duck inside of a chicken inside of a turkey.

I think it sounds unappetizing, but I was wondering if anyone had an opinion based upon actually tasting it.

I have had it, I thought it was too dry. I prefer smoked or fried turkey.

I have had wonderful Turduckhen, and some not so good. Depends.

Costco used to carry a frozen turdukhen for the holidays; I have not checked this year, but it is good (if a bit small, about 10 pounds total).

Krogers also occasionally carries a good frozen brand; again, for the holidays.

I saw one being made on TV and the bloated turkey just skeeved me out.

I like turkey and chicken, not so much duck. I can't imagine eating them all at the same time, though.

It looks and sounds disgusting. I hate duck.

My mother made something simliar once:

It was a cornish game hen stuffed inside a chicken stuffed inside a turkey. She de-boned everything (they were sliced open underneath, the bones removed, so there was a big cut in the underside). She included stuffing around each item, though very little fit into the birds. I'm not 100% certain, but I think she removed the legs altogether.

Was it good? Of course! Everything my mother cooks is absolutely delicious! However, she never repeated the experiment for several reasons: It was a great deal of work, the presentation wasn't very pretty (no bones = a big blob, not a pretty turkey), and we ended up with an excessive amount of meat and not enough stuffing.

I've seen a frozen TurDuck (or something similar) for sale at Harris Teeter. I considered buying one this year, but my daughter expressed an interest in learning to cook a turkey, and I wanted her to do "the basics" for her first time. The Harris Teeter item was $40 and pretty big -- it looked like a decent value for something that wouldn't have taken much effort at all.

We got one a few years ago...I HATED it. Of course I do not like dressing or stuffing so that was probably the biggest reason.

Done right, they are great. We have a cajun butcher in town that does a great turducken. Done right, everything is boneless with layers of stuffing between each different type of meat. You can have a different stuffing between each meat layer if you wish. These turduckens were not dry at all and were great. The turduckens from this butcher are not cheap but you are getting pure meat and no bone and so it still a good value.
