with a toddler who needed a NAP??? OMG! What a nightmare that was for me today! I hit our local Big Lots looking for some Disney stuff (found some) & some small objects for my kids to play with in the van on the way down to WDW this Christmas & my 22 month old son was just screaming & taking stuff out of my cart & throwing it down on the floor!

I ran down the toy aisle & found some toys for him to play with while I zoomed around the store trying to make very quick selections but for heaven's sake, even the toys weren't enough for him! He started throwing those out the basket too!

By the time we got to the check out lane, one of the store employees came to help me. She kept my DS busy while I was writing out my check! What a nightmare!! Anyway, I just peaked in on him & he's sleeping so peacefully & looks like such a little angel (with retractable horns!!)  :p

That ever happen to you?

Absolutely, I have walked out of more than 1 store without buying a thing.

Yep, that's their trick, they're too damn cute while they're sleeping, that's how you end having more than 1. :D :D

Near Lakeside Mall ~ I can PM you more details though if you wish. Where are you?

Yes I have! And boy is it awful! DD has finally gotten herself on a predictable schedule so I can plan around her. I don't mess with her nap time because we will just regret it!

What are your dates in December Rose?????

I remember those days, now its more like "Mama can I have this, its only $20" Yeah right!

I had to LOL the other night in Wal-Mart. My cousin is married to a man who has been in the military for a year now. They have 2 children, one is a little over 2 the other is a little over 1 and she is pregnant with number #3. She has the best attitude I have ever seen for a young mother with 2 toddlers and her husband in Iraq....she has Austin (the 1 year old) sound asleep in the buggy. She had gone to the pillows and taken them and made him a little bed and covered him with towels....Kelly (the 2 year old) was going around looking at everyone saying """Sssshhhh""" with her finger to her mouth.

Very cute story about your cousin! ;)

We're going Dec 19th thru the 26th. Will you be there in December too?? :bounce: :bounce: Oh.....I hope so!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My worst shopping experience with my kids was right after they came to this country permanently. We went to KMart to look for a backpack for my DS. He didn't speak English yet, and although I can speak some Russian, he started pitching a fit and yelling, "Ya kachoo parfeel!" I had no idea what parfeel meant. He sat on the floor and wouldn't move, but he kept tugging at the hood on his sweatshirt. I thought he wanted his hood up, so I put it up. He got madder and louder. I finally dragged him to my truck and called the adoption agency for help in translating this. One of the workers talked to him, and told me that a parfeel is a backpack. They were kind enough to explain to him that we were purposely shopping to get him a backpack but all KMart had were pink ones left. He agreed that he didn't want a girl's backpack, and was good for the rest of our shopping experience that day. We finally found a North Face pack that was on sale for $20 in Dick's.

I'll never forget what a parfeel is ever again. That was the only time in this country that he stumped me with something that he wanted.

Wow! What a story about the "parfeel!" I may remember that word too now! ;)

Most people must have "angelic" kids since not too many had any stories about their nightmare shopping trips with their kids!

DD's "horns" showed more times than I wanted to, but I think (fingers crossed) that's she finally growing out of the stage!

I heard that too. And when I would say, but I don't have the money, his reply was "But you have a checkbook!"

There were a lot of times that we left stores because I was carrying one kid and pulling another along. If both my dh & I were there he would take the offending kid(s) to the car so that I could finish shopping. It is really funny though that I have no problem with my grandkids. I am with them alot (babysit them about 30 hrs/wk) and take them to the stores more than their parents and I have never had any problem with them. Their parents do though. I tell them what I expect of them, what we are going to do, and whether I have any money at all for a treat. If they ask I look at them and ask them the question back. It seems to work. I wish I had thought of this when my kids were little. I took the 2 kids and one of their friends to Make a Bear and we had a ball. They all asked if they could get clothes but were fine when I said no. Thank goodness.

Yep. A sure fire way to get mine quiet when they were little was for complete strangers to stop and talk to them to ask them why they're making so much racket. My ds is still under the impression that only his mommy can hear him when he's acting up. It was a shock for him to realize others could hear him.

I think the funniest part of those days
(My little man will be 3 in Nov)
is thatyou remember when-
PREKIDS you saw someone else go through that and thought - will that lady do something about that kid! - OH how the tables turn LOL
For about six months there we never would have had groceries if I didn't deprive DS of a snack then give it to him while he was in the carriage!
:)
Hope your next shopping trip is better!

Mishetta,

I can't believe my sweet "nephew" did anything like that!!!;) I can remember once when my oldest (now almost 24 yrs old!) was a toddler and we were at Meijer's in the checkout line. He wanted a candy bar and DH refused. Mike carried on and carried on and I had to walk away while DH calmly stood there and repeated, "NO!" When he was done paying, he got a round of applause from a few people in line who told him it was a strong man who didn't give into a toddler with a tantrum!

We need to get together again one of these days soon!!! We are heading back to WDW Dec 10 - 14, so I will miss you there. Durn!!!! Maybe we can plan a "Lakeside food court gathering" one of these weekends in the fall!

Oh Pinnie!!! So wonderful to see you again (well, you know what I mean!) Yes, your sweet little "nephew" has grown some "horns!" Since he has not mastered any words yet (not even "Mama" :( ), he just screams at the top of his lungs. I mean, I see people turning to look at us. It's embarrassing!

Baby starts Speech & Occupational Therapy again next week so hopefully once he starts to develop some words, his screaming will subside.

A get-together sounds so wonderful! Hopefully it will be on our side of town next time. Makes life easier when going out with a little one!

Patty T ~ "I" was one of those people (before kids) that used to think "my child would never behave like that in public!" God got even with me for thinking that!

And don't think that going to church on Sunday's is any easier with him!
