Has anyone ever canceled the dining plan after paying for it?

OK. Long story. My hubby got a gift certificate from his union as a "thank you" for travel. Thing is it has to be a package deal. So we are doing Universal and the dining with tickets. I started looking and the dining doesn't seem to be a good deal. If we cancel the dining, say 5-10 days out, will that just show as a credit on our account that we can use towards some good restaurants (ie charge to our room--is this a option at Universal---to charge using your room card like Disney?) or will they refund the travel company? Honestly, it has been so hard to redeem this travel certificate, i don't want to have to use the credit towards another trip...KWIM?

I think you should call the travel co. its booked thru and ask. Also, you can use your room card to charge just about everything in the parks and on citywalk.

Thanks. I called and found out they actually have other deal plans available. I knew about the Meal and Movie Deal but didn't know about the table dining service. So for about the same price I was able to get 2 nights of the Meal and Movie deal and 2 nights of able service. That suits us better. Now we are all set. Thanks so much.
