Has anyone ever called MS and gotten their waitlist come through??

Have you ever called MS and gotten your waitlist filled while on the phone?

I'm wondering the statistics of how often people have called MS for whatever reason and then found out they had a waitlist come through!

Or maybe MS even contacted the resort directly and somehow magically got inventory for your waitlist to be filled??

I have only heard of this but have never tried it; I'm wondering if it's ever happened. I'm too chicken to try it!;)

I've read of it happening a few times here on these boards.

I've called a few times to check inventory and have been told "I might be able to get you a room at "so and so" resort. Then the CM magically comes back with a room.

IMHO, it never hurts to call and ask.

Call and ask. The worst that will happen is nothing will have changed. If you don't call, you probably will drive yourself nuts with all the "what if" statements going on in your head.

Call repeatedly. We were waitlisted a couple times and just kept calling, every three or four days when we were a few months out to every day when we were a few weeks out. Came through both times.

Wow, really? Every few days? They don't mind? What do you say? Do they suddenly find inventory or did your waitlist just come through that day?

I called once just checking on my waitlists and the MS man was not too happy. Told me there's no need to call.

I usually come up with some other excuse for my call and then ask if I'm a call or auto confirm for my waitlists, even though I actually know the answer...but I've never had any luck.

I had 2 waitlists come through and MS never called me. Just last night I recieved my new confirmation with the new nights (my waitlist just came through). So yes the waitlist does work.

I actually meant to post about this but didn't yet - I was waiting on just 1 night becoming available for my October stay - I had a waitlist for the 1 night at any DVC property & if I had to change hotels for the 1 night I would have been ok with that but of course really wanted all nights at same resort & preferably same room - I called MS to ask if anything at all was available anywhere (had waitlist for 1BR but would have taken studio) - she asked me what my preferance was - I told her - same resort- same room type so I wouldn't have to change resorts or room but I'm willing to if necessary - I just want to make sure I have a bed to sleep in & don't want to get shut out of course - I explained that I already had my resort preference (BWV) for all my nights but the one so felt lucky about that - really wanted a studio to save on points but took the 1BR since that's all that was available & was getting desperate - but still needed that 1 night - she asked if I wanted to waitlist the studio for all the nights & then checked each DVC property & there was not 1 night in a studio available anywhere - I told her if I could get that 1 night at the BWV & didn't have to switch rooms I would be thrilled & grateful to have my trip all confirmed!! She asked if she could call me back & I said sure - within an hour she called back & got that last night in a 1BR for me at the BWV!! I was so happy!! I would have preferred to save points on a studio but I really wanted the BWV & we are celebrating our wedding anniversary so having the jacuzzi will be romantic!! ;)
I think the DVC is the best!!

Wow, what a great story! Disney magic at work!

I hope I have that kind of luck with my last 2 nights I'm waiting on!

Thanks for sharing!

We used the wait list many times and with very good results and use the automatic booking instead of a phone call first. We most times want to go to OKW from BC or BWV. Currently 9/30 we are on the list for December OKW studio and as always we have some concern but we have never been let down with this much time ahead. Remember if your in a pinch you can book the Disney Collection but its more points if it helps.

We were waitlisted right up until day 31 for our current reservation. We kept calling both MS and our guide about every week, although as we came closer to the 30 day mark we called more frequently, until we finally got our reservations confirmed.

Beattyfamily, I had a waitlist that I was really sweating over, but at a little over 1 week I called to check on it and hit the jackpot. While I was on the phone with MS, she put me on hold ...called BCV direct.. then came back to me and let me know that the room I was waitlisted for was available.
By the way, if you get an MS person who is not congenial just try again. Most of the CM's are very helpful and will tell you to call back as often as you want to check the status of a waitlist, but occasionally you'll get someone with an attitude. Don't let that you deter you from checking, just try again and you'll probably get someone a little more friendly.
Pixie Dust for your waitlist!:D

Thanks so much for the all the encouraging replies!

I'm at 58 days and contemplating when and how oftne to call. This is my first trip 'home' and my BIL first vacation EVER so I really want it to be special. As of now my poor BIL is moving 3 times!!! so I'm really counting on my 2 bedroom waitlist to come through for those 2 nights!

I was thinking of calling at about 45 days and then 32 days. I never know what to say without annoying them that I'm calling to check on my waitlist. Usually I say I'm checking to see if I'm on call or auto confirm!!

Thanks again!
