Has anyone ever been to a Broadway "preview"?

I am going to get tickets for my boyfriend for a broadway show that is having "preview" performances the month of April. The official opening is April 27th...I was wondering if anyone has ever been to a preview performance before? I know it is used to fine tune some things and get an idea of what the audience likes. But for theater goers out there...do you recommend to wait a little bit to see a new show until after the preview? Or is there not enough difference to worry about it? Any info would be great!!

I've gone to off Broadway previews. I think it's fun to go see it in previews, and then go see it again after it "officially" opens to see what was changed. I would guess by that point since it's less than a month before official opening that it should be pretty much fined tuned by then.

Most Broadway shows get the kinks worked out long before they come to town and are in previews. At this point, you are getting last minute mini-tweaks. Go for it.

Thanks I am still debating which weekend would be best but I want to decide by tommorrow morning bc tickets go on sale and I want to get good seats. I think either way he will love it! It's the Wedding Singer starring Stephen Lynch who he loves!

I saw the previews of Paul Simon's controversial "The Capeman" two days before it was set to open. I am glad I did because it didn't open due to protests.
I thought the music was great, too bad it was a true story and he seemed to trivialize the murder of two innocent people and make the killer into a hero figure. If it was fiction it would have been great. Peggie

I saw Jeckyll and Hyde while it was in previews. There was actually a few significant changes between that one and when it opened but both were really great.

Have fun

Back when I lived in NY I had the opportunity to see many off and on Broadway previews, some that I had the opportunity to see the finished product, also. I would JUMP at the chance to see the preview because it's unique, it may or may not change but you have the chance to see it and that doesn't happen often!

Go and enjoy!
