Has anyone else 'thrown in the towel?'

I had a whole vacation planned for next summer at Cedar Point and have just scrapped those plans for WDW! I just cant stay away! My poor suffering spouse tolerates my need to be in WDW, he has a good time while we're there, but I know he would like to try somewhere else. My DD (she's 6) has got the WDW bug too. We've also got a DS (12 weeks) so I know there will be many more trips to come.HOORAY!

DVC is next on the list and I can't wait to be able to call it "home".

My first trip to WDW, back in '99, was going to be that once in a lifetime trip. My mom went with me and my then 6 y/o dd. Well, we went back with friends in '01. Then dh says we have to go without anyone else. So, we go back in '03. Then my dh gave our phone number to the DVC people. Of course we buy. Then my mom died and my dd and just had to get away. Where else but to WDW. That was Dec of '03. Then back we went last August. We are currently planning our Thanksgiving trip in 64 days and I just put in a request for BWV in June for my dd and myself. I mean, we already have APs that will expire in August. We should use them again, right? And the airfare is looking really good. Yep, it's an addiction all right. Followed closely by my addiction to the dis boards!!! You guys are only feeding my addicition.

But, I have to say....dh no longer rolls his eyes back anymore when I start my Disney talks. He even converses intelligently about where we should eat or what we should do. He's coming over to 'the Mouse'!!!!

Oh, what a great thread! I grew up going to Magic Kingdom and then had about a 15 year break before I went back again. I went back when my oldest was 2 and now my girls are 6 and almost 9. I think this December will be our 7th trip since 1998! My DH agreed to us getting AP's for this next trip. What was supposed to be our last trip (this Dec.) has ended up with us going possibly three more times over the next year. Man, those AP's really burn a hole in your pocket!

I love the place and my husband no longer shakes his head at me. I have to admit though, that we are not telling his family that we will head back to the world a few more times next year as they really wouldn't understand.

:hyper:

We finally gave in and are moving to Celebration!!! 5 minutes to WDW. :jumping1: Can't wait to be able to see all the special events like Candelight Processional, Osborne Lights, MVMCP, Star Wars Weekends, Flower and Garden Festival, etc.

Last year we were preparing to take our three nieces to WDW around this time. (early October) We always go the first week in May but this was a special trip for the nieces. Lately I have been getting the urge to go back. I know that we will go again in May but that is feeling like years away. It must be some sort of internal instinct or calling becauses all it took was one time to get my body craving a fall trip as well as a spring trip.

There is no cure! We can only treat the symptoms and visit as often as schedules and money will allow!

I agree that the DISboards feeds the addiction. My father took us to MK a couple times when we were growning up and I'd taken my DD now 31 a couple times when she was growing up. It was never an every year thing though. Then along comes my first granddaughter so we took her when she was two and stayed with my aunt/uncle who lived in Orlando. Didn't take her again until she was 6, it was just her and I. That's also when I found the DISboards. Ever since I found the DISboards it's been a two or three times a year thing. So I know the DISboards feeds the addiction.

My mother passed away last year and left me some money, not a lot, but enough to buy into DVC and pay off the bills. I'm already in borrowing mode on the points but I refuse to add on. My granddaughter will be 10 this year and still loves WDW, but just in case she gets too cool for WDW, I've now got a new granddaughter pictured below as backup.

I also took my father 80 last February, his first time at Epcot, MGM & AK. He grumbled and didn't want to go, but now he loves it and we're going again this February and taking my aunt & uncle who are in their 70's. Dad's all excited. While I was writing this, he walked in and asked "What night are we going to the Hoop Dee Doo!"

Now I have two "types" of trips. Commando, ride the rides, character meal eatin', water park goin' and go go go trips with the kids. And then I have the sleep late, eat a leisurely breakfast, see every inch of Epcot, eat at the expensive restaurants, and relaxing trip with my dad and now aunt/uncle. I love both kinds!

Who needs another baby??? when you have a teenager who still loves to go and helps with all the planning. My DD is 17 and still quite so young at heart. Her disboard name is Disneylover0105.

When we start planning trips she helps find information for it and ways to save money and such. She is as addicted as we are. :earseek: :earseek:

Disney World, Disney World, Disney World :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

My Dh recently told of his plans to buy an older VW Bug and paint it black and put our Doombuggie license plate we bought on the front of it. :teeth:

Have gotten so used to the eye rolls from friends and family I just say too bad they don't get it. I am actually embarrassed even on these boards to admit how many times we have been to Disneyland this past year. Now its off to WDW in 3 weeks where I know my addiction will get even more outrageous! I look at it this way, if I pay for it myself, still save for mine and my children's future, who cares? Have watched my mom battle cancer for 3 years now, lost my beloved Aunt the day after 9/11 and know you might as well enjoy life because you never know what tomorrow may bring. Lets have fun, be addicted and all live happily ever after just like all those Disney princesses!

How ironic that this is posted now...when every day brings me closer to the dreaded expirations of our PAPs!!! :( This is the second year that DH and I have APs (first year APs, this year had to go with the PAPs) so we are definitely spoiled. With such great airfare in October, I SO want to book one more trip before we have to give up our Disney love (for awhile). Grrrr....Disney is calling me! To make matter worse, we absolutely LOVE the Food and Wine Festival, and our wedding anniversary is the date of our expiration. Yikes! What's a girl to do!! ;) I, at least, have my first DCL cruise (November 27-December 4) with my side of the family to look forward to, but poor DH can't make it due to work (schoolteacher). That is the ONLY reason I am holding back making this last trip.

I will be strong.
I will be strong.

:p IVY :p
