Has anyone else seen Christmas items up already?

Saw them today and couldn't stop myself from loudly sadly " W...T....H.... is this???" It just came out. Seriously, ITS AUGUST! Last year the malls had Christmas lights and wreaths out a week before Halloween. Kids trick or treating inside the mall with lights up and turned on! I'm all for buying a couple gifts early, just it doesn't need to look Christmas-y yet!

Hobby Lobby had full Christmas decor out LAST MONTH! I couldn't believe it either. I love Christmas more than many but, come on...

While I agree with the sentiment that it is entirely too early for Christmas stuff, craft and hobby stores get a pass here. If you are going to be making holiday stuff you kind of need a few months head start on it.

I have a friends who works at Home Depot. He said they are getting ready to put stuff out after Labor Day.

Have seen some things in several stores but our Hobby Lobby was also full blown last month. Decorated trees, lights, ornaments, decorations, etc. Not just materials to make Christmas items but items complete/made and ready for purchase. It was nearly 1/3 of the store and they were preparing to complete more. I actually took pictures of the trees and lights and sent them to friends and asked them to guess where I was!

Many years ago, I worked at a Hallmark store and if I remember correctly we put out our Christmas ornaments in July!!

Exactly! I don't have a huge problem with it, but I do find it to be too much. Holidays start losing the excitement factor when you look at the decorations for 6-7 months a year.

I saw Christmas decor/supplies at Costco today. It made me happy! :cool1:

I love Christmas and don't mind that retailers bring out the decor earlier and earlier every year. I like to see what's new for the season.

I don't mind. Bring IT. I live in the city and ran from store to store looking for lights last year. I even went to the local drug stores. You know that's desperation! :rotfl:

It seems my luck is having my lights (which I believe to still be in working order) come out of storage dead or half a string working. You know, the type that's supposed to stay lit when one goes out? By Black Friday the aisles were cleaned out of lights. I finally resorted to trying to find the bad bulbs and using what I could. complete. waste. of. time. There was also nothing left to stock up on after Christmas.

Seriously, how do lights magically quit working while in storage?! It's baffling. I'm not a slack and usually try to keep a few extras on hand. I'm also really careful about storing them which makes it such a mystery to me... :confused3

Lesson learned, I will find my lights early this year...:santa:

I have no issue with them having Christmas decor etc out. I do have issues with stores being DECORATED for Christmas before Halloween.

We have a brand new Hobby Lobby on Rt 9 in Monmouth County, NJ and it has about 10 aisles of Christmas including lighted trees. A little too early for me.

I have to get out to the store and see if we have any decorations. I love that the trees and decorations are out. I tell everyone if I had a spare room, it would be the Christmas room. I would keep it decorated all year long!!

If Costco has Christmas now then... They must have PUMPKIN PIE!!!! I must get there this weekend. :) YUM!

Sam's club had xmas next to halloween stuff , Kmart has lights out and yard deco next to summer clearance section..

It really gets annoying to walk into store in aug sept oct and most of nov and see it all decked out for xmas

I would love to have the official date be day after thanksgiving period.

I understand its retails high season, but really stop it.

Mall of Georgia - Hallmark store has out ornaments, next to the Halloween promotional items.:scared:

I was in Sam's 2 days ago and they have out Halloween. I did not see Christmas, but I bet they will soon.

Ha ha. We took a pumpkin pie from Costco to the in-laws' house for dessert last Sunday. It was good, but not as good as homemade.
