Has anyone else read or heard this??

FYI:

COP was a walk-on during the afternoon of 12/26/06. We used it as a way to get closer to our FP time for Space Mountain.

I love Disney classics, but it needs some sort of pizzazz. Seats were worn looking, audience was bored looking...

DW and I love CoP, but our kids can hardly tolerate it... even as a break from the heat or a timekiller while waiting for FP window

I also read this in the 2007 UG. I surely hope it is not true! That would be just awful!! I understand the need for new or updated attractions, but come on.....NOT COP!!!!!!!! THAT WOULD BE WRONG!

The only thing I could stomach them touching would be the last scene to update it. But please leave the rest alone! I

oops....i hit quote instead of edit. oh well..

I just took out a 2007 disney touring book from the library and in it made a commment that the COP may be removed to allow a new ride-Incredibles roller coaster. That is the 1st I have heard of any such thing. Anyone else read or hear that rumor?

The KEY word here is RUMOR. This is one of the "Jim Hill" "enhancements" to the book

Off the top of my head let's discuss a few other of his GREAT announcements

1. There was suppose to be a Halloween event at MGM this past fall, did anyone see it?

2. Disney removed Tarzan because you can't have both a Broadway show and a theme park show at the same time. (HEY JIM. Have you notice Beauty and the Beast and Lion King????)

Anything in the "Jim Hill" sections should be ignored IMHO and due to the volume and "highlighting" they got this year this will be my last purchase of the UG.

Didn't they just put all new seating in COP? It would seem odd that they would spend the money to do so if they were going to tear it out. I'll believe it when I see it.

CoP was a walk on when we were there during Thanksgiving. It's not showing up on some of the maps Disney has been sending out in their information packets. The building is on the maps, but there is no notation as to what it is.
Same with Snow White.

What was the rumor for the ride/attraction replacing WWTBaM? Also heard rumors some time ago about replacing Sounds Dangerous. There are so many rumors and speculations it is hard to remember what may be going where. popcorn::

I totally agree. I love this attraction. It's nice cool dark place to relax after elbowing your way through the crowds in TL. I've gone it every year I have gone since 1975, except the one time we went when it was being refurbished. What will they do next, take out the Hall of Presidents!!!!

:scared1:  don't even joke about that!!:sad1:

In December, I rode CoP (like I always do)- and I noticed that the "today section is getting pretty out date. They really need to update the stuff in there. It wouldn't be that hard to do for a lot of things that aren't actually involved in the "show". Like the laptop.

Back to a post that said that they have never seen the stage next door used... it is used seasonal for shows like mickey's night before Christmas and stuff... Also I have seen characters back there sometimes... I heard that sometimes they hold other special events there...

As for CoP, you cant dismantle everything original in the park... Disney banks of sentimental just as much as it does attractions. YOu have to leave some things the same (I am a supporter of refurb, especially the "today" though i would have liked to seen the original "today" of 1964.) Also the reason it doest show up on some of the maps (and it does on others) depends on what time of the year it is and what brochure disney is using for the park.... since for the last couple years CoP has been seasonal (though during this last year, it seems to be open more often then not.)

I think someone also said that timekeeper is never open... thats because it was seasonal too, but the reason now is because it doesn't exist anymore :P

One of Disney's favorite ideas was the "Edutainment" CoP provides that on a subject kids are not likely to learn in school, the history of the american family during the 20th century. I think it is very in the "feel of Disney" to have such an attraction. And I have been on it when there have been ten people, but i have also rode the ride with a full house. Just think there are five theatres, so at any given time their may be 50 to 500 people on that ride, it is cutting down on park traffic (for all you naysayers talking about something to "help" tomorrow land) and besides i really hate that tomorowland is becoming pixar land. I am fine with a couple attractions, and even would grudgingly give in to a make over of the speedway... but knocking out classics that Walt designed seems a bit far... and for having under ten movies, pixar characters seem to get an unequal amount of attention when it comes to ride design.

I think once they figure out what to do with the space they tear down CoP. It doesn't have the appeal it once did which is probably why its a "seasonal" attraction. Its a museum piece now.

I always make a point to see COP it's one of my favorites. I hope the most they do it refurbish this attraction.

I like the idea of adding another country at World Showcase. Any addition would be welcome in my opinion. :thumbsup2

I think that they should refurbish COP and build a rollercoaster that has an incredibles theme somewhere else in the park. I do LOVE those incredibles! I also definitely agree with the person who said there should be a Greece in Epcot. That would be a great addition!

Please Disney, enough with the freakin' coasters. Carousel of Progress is a classic, developed by Walt himself. It needs to be refurbished, that's all. Sometimes it seems like the powers that be at Disney are eliminating all vestiges of Walt's ideas.:confused3
